AMA is over... Summary Included. [Didn't even know it started]

Its not like you cant just look at another site for updates. They have their reasons for using Reddit. Your reason for not using Reddit is simply "'cause i don wanna!"

 

Well rethought about that, theres a 3rd option:

I mod the game the way I want, I play the game the way I want (and not in a linear progression COD like way) I update it when I want and I go home and do not care for the devs and reddit bullshit at all. Well may they turn into god knows what abomination by only hearing on reddit, I simply wont care thats the third option. Resistance is futile, fighting back is futile or leaving and simply not caring anymore. Since I do not plan to join the Reddit Collectiv and I am sick of fighting windmills like the Reddit Collectiv I rather (ab)use something the game already has, and thats the way it can be modded hehe.

+ It is possible to disable updates on steam so I can read a little how to get rid of features I do not want, even if it takes some time for me.

Yeah that hits the point, this law somebody here mentioned is kinda right. If something hits that comparasion then a fight or an argumentation is pointless. Its not going to get changed anyways. Rather just leaving and continuing without stress.

If you would excuse me, this is the point where I get off. I tried my best and it wasnt enough (apparently).

Will still be arround the forums since most of the people here are nice and similar to me and I feel kinda welcomed by this community (which is rare as some of you might have read in another post of myself).
When the time has come I will participate again in this kind of VS discussions.

Fast forward to today, where each group only remembers the last X things that the other group did to hurt them.

All I'm saying is, stop the cycle. What's done in the past is done.

They're consolidating their devs into the London office, hopefully this improves their internal communication and that their external communication improves as well.

Give them the respect we want to see, and let the ball be in their court.

 

When your argument can be boiled down to "but he hit me first!", maybe it is not the strongest point on which to stand.

Can we please just leave it at hoping the devs find a way to use the sites they prefer AND also keep the forum-goers here notified? MAybe even making calm suggestions on ways they can accomplish that? We don't need all the hyperbole and insults.

 

To put some perspective to this nasty business. Reddit being prefered for "popularity".

At this moment there are 515 people viewing the reddit page of Starbound. There are over 700 members on the Starbound forums, not including the well over 1000 guests.

When it comes to popularity, and where people go to discuss Starbound, the forums seem to actually be prefered over Reddit. Completely ignoring it is a big disapointment. They are failing to communicate through a media that a significant portion of your vocal community actually uses.

Granted the format of a discussion forum isnt always ideal for all forms of communcation, but then dont forget to use it to direct people to the places where you are going to do your back and forth. And this seemed to have been neglected in this case, and its sadly a bit of a habit.
And people seemingly get agitated over this, its an issue that has been raised before. And when its the leading discussion in a topic that contains honestly a ton of new and interesting information, that shows people feel this is an important thing.

Although I really wish every thread that contained "Chucklefish talks about something!" or "Chucklefish said ____ on reddit!" didn't devolve into "Chucklefish doesn't use the official forums!".

Its valid because its proven because 700 is bigger then 515. And I saw over 1200 people activ on the forums already (only as registered users). Sadly didnt compare reddit at that point of time.

 

So the unrest of the people, in this case fans of starbound, will be noticed. No one has been openly hateful at CF for posting everywhere else but here. We are airing our frustrations. Through a text only format. Sometimes legitimate logic and facts can come off as very rude or angered when simply read. There is no intonation in text. Should we start a post asking for all posts to be made on starbound official forums first, yes. Does it seem pointless, yes. They made their decision already to make the other media sites their primary. That leaves us with the route of venting our frustrations. The only truly negative stuff I have read here is on the reddiots that simply treat new people to their forums like dirt. That's a sad state of a social media forum, but its the internet and that makes everyone right to themselves. To sum it up, there is no logical reason that any information regarding this game would not be posted here along with everywhere else. It is just unacceptable and ridiculous. When asking nicely for something doesn't work, people get angered, they speak their mind. If CF cares thoroughly about their fan base this sort of stuff will not go unnoticed. They should right this wrong.

 

This is the only part that matters, let's be honest.

 

People need to quit arguing over reddit or these forums. Game needs publicity, doesn't matter how they obtain it. They do clearly still support these forums or they wouldn't post in them or have moderators to keep them in check. Keep arguing and this thread will get locked I'm sure. Why are you even focused on the outlet they use anyway? Talk about the friggin AMA.

I think you must have skipped over most the posts. A lot of people missed the AMA because no one was informed here. I would have loved to participated and I would have created a reddit account to do so. The issue is the lack of congruent information on all sites. No one cares that they post it on reddit and that the devs tweet about it. Its the fact that these things take place and the official forum is left to be updated late by whoever is free to do it. That is the problem. Lock the thread thats fine with me. Means someone read it and realizes its a problem that they either A - want to hear nothing about and may take heed to the issue or B - want people to quit arguing over and could care less if it is an actual issue.

Regardless NO ONE is saying don't publicize the game.... we are saying make updates available to everyone. put a link, it takes no time to update a front page post with a LINK!
