AMA is over... Summary Included. [Didn't even know it started]

    For those of you who don't know what AMA is.
    Its an "ASK ME ANYTHING" interview. Where the Starbound [reddit] community can ask the staff anything they want.

    SUMMARY
    • Hytoyl structures might be coming next patch
    • Procedurally generated Quests planned for next patch
    • Branched Tiers Planned
    • You earn money by Charging NPC's rent in houses. Rent is based on what is inside the room. You mark rooms for people to stay inside.
    • Event system - where random things can happen
    • Automated Objects are coming
    • Ship to Ship battles are not confirmed - if it ever comes it will be after release
    • Certain weapons will have multiple attacks
    • Spears finally getting directional attacks
    • Boss Progression is "Fixed" for "Main" Story line. Hence bosses will not increase in difficulty. Which makes it "Difficult" to change.
    • Braww wants dragon dildos.
    • Nova kids coming only at end of beta
    • All current vehicle techs will become 'real' vehicles eventually. I don't have a time frame for you yet, but they won't be techs forever.
    • More harsher enviroments
    • Skills will lock to a certain branch based on what you choose
    • Maybe, the in game wiring/automation systems are going to get a lot more complex. I know one of Kyrens goals with the system is building an emulator in game.
    • Improving Farming / Ranching Mechanic
    • Ability to sell goods for money

    I really love how they announced the AMA time and place on the Official Starbound Forums.
    Though they should officially close the star bound forums and just move to Reddit.
    I am pretty sure I saw it on the News section. No.. Twitter feed. No...hmm General Section? No.
    I am sure you just forgot, that you had official forums. That's probably it.


    Personally I am disappointed that bosses are "linear" they should scale up accordingly or at least the damage multiplier should be variable so mods can make them scale according to planet. Having them "Fixed" health and damage is an insanely silly idea.

    Also happy spears finally get directional movement. It has been a long time coming.

    Not really excited about playing "Land Lord" - though it is an improvement to those people who want to make cities.
    Its sad they didn't answer anything about how they are going to increase LUA scripts or mod ability right now.
    Maybe if they - told when the AMA was going to happen on the [un]official forums... [ok enough of that]

    Tiy said there would be multiple paths to gain Pixels.

    - Piracy (most peoples' current strategy), where you raid worlds and just travel around drinking, boozing, wenching, and stealing.
    - Landlording, charging NPC's rent based on how nice your buildings are
    - Farming
    - Selling rare artifacts (treasurehunting)
    - Probably other stuff.

    If things (ship battles) are not confirmed, then it means they aren't confirmed. You can't definitively say that they won't be released during beta, because there's no confirmation... It will probably be not during beta, but it's not exactly true to say they won't be implemented until after release, if ever.

    *Edit*
    I also think it's unfortunate that they didn't address communication, but as long as they continue to release patches and updates, I think I'll survive.

    Well, your "Summary" lacks a lot of very important info as:
    But it's not like it's yout job to do summary on Devs answers, it's CM job. But looks like they have money to buy office in London, but can't hire a CM after their former one became part of Dev team

    And your rant is 100% legit, i hate the way they abandon their official website.

    And it's not like they are going to be "cities", just a bunch of houses:

    I can see piratical landlording to be a very lucrative way to do things... nick people's valuable stuff to stick in your apartment complexes so you can have really good rent income while you sell your non-decorative loot.

    And again another IMPORTANT event happened OUTSIDE the official forum on this piece of crap website called reddit.
    As if other, more userfriendly, better plattforms wouldnt exist at all. Would have participated if 1. there would be an announcement where the AMA is happening 2. It is NOT on Reddit or Facebook (Twitter is OK though still annoying).

    2.:
    Facebook; They literally try to sell you to the highest bidder so they can flood you with ads. Even with false data they are annoying you with ads
    Reddit; As stated in my other posts: Completly BIASED, insultiv community, which should not exist at all on earth. The worst parts of humanity is there, the corrupted parts.

    My opinion is also biased ironically, but I am kinda pissed that almost every company claims to talk to their community and do what a "majority" wants. Reddit IS NOT Lambda, Lambda > 50% of the community -> Reddit IS NOT a majority of the community. They are part (sadly) but NOT a MAJORITY...

    Sorry had to blew off this steam because this reddit bullshit pissed me off from Mojang in the past aswell.

    Sorry if it sounds insultiv to some of you, but this reddit bullshit has seriously to stop (atleast IMO). Personally I do not want to go on a website where you get insulted for not being part of a collectiv of biased people disagreeing to you just for the sake of disagreeing to somebody.

    So now you have my opinion on this nicely thought AMA which was put into Praxis in worst case. Sorry again if it sounds insultiv.

    Actually I think its time for my first attempt to post something controversal on this forums: Going to be a thread like: "Stop HOSTING IMPORTANT EVENTS ON REDDIT!"

    Then there's no real point to saying "not confirmed", just say it'll be after release or not at all

    Exactly. Why add so many paths for progression (adventurer, collector, landlord, farmer, etc.) and making them go through the exact same "gates" and bosses? To value story more that other aspects in sandbox is quite strange for me.

    Technically, someone also linked it from TvK's "Mind blowing tweet" post. I think it was TvK. Of course, that assumes you were following that thread, or watching the twitter tracker (which doesn't show up if you're in the GD forum).

    A good chunk of people who use this section don't use the front page, where the feed is visible. It isn't visible while in a section.

    At least, that's an incredibly safe assumption.
