Alpha Question: Who actually has it?

The title pretty much says it all.

There aren't many developers, so I'm curious as to how many people are testing the alpha, and perhaps even some names.

Also an explanation of why this people were given access would be nice.

So, if you know, post here, if you have speculations, post here, if you just want to discuss, post here.

 

From what I know, (Not much lol) But only the dev's have it at this point. But thats just what I think. ;P

The devs have stated before that close friends and family are the only ones with constant alpha access, and they wanted it to stay as such until Beta. Has this changed? It's a possibility.

 

What makes one a contributor?

 

hmm...something like artists, music writer and general awesome helpers.

 

Contributing the the completion of the game in an artistic, code, or other such way is the type of contribution Autzome is referring to.

If I had to guess, some of the people who invested 500+ dollars into the game. They didn't want to post it as a reward because they didn't want people buying into alpha/having the "lesser" contributors being jealous/complaining. They also had to agree to an NDA in order to have the alpha. Best guess i could come up with. Seems plausable.

 

I believe this question is on a need-to-know basis.

 

It's not the general public. Dev teams usually let friend & family test the game during alpha phases, but nobody else can just swing by and try it. So unless you know the devs in real life, or you've somehow worked on the game, you'll probably have to wait until the beta. But hey, it's getting closer every day

Looks like a hunt for an alpha-build has begun, in desperation after i49

 

As I know, there was a small leak about half a year ago (an early ocean testing build) when some (Russian?) guy posted a thread on certain imageboard (now closed). But this incident was interrupted very quickly (I don't know any details), and I believe Devs become more careful choosing testers since then. So yes, I think now these are only family members/contributors.
