All planets now threat level 1 ??

I just started looking around and tried several random systems of red, blue and yellow star systems and all the planets I looked at were threat level 1. I can't find a single one that is higher than 1. What??

they changed it so that there are only 10 levels instead of 100, so each sector is basically a new threat level. Example: Alpha is 1 Beta is 2 Gamma is 3 ... I feel like if they keep this system its useless to keep thread levels since the sector will basically tell us how hard it will be.

I meant I think it's a mistake to do it this way, I think it was good the old way for the planet levels

I didn't really understand it, but they said having 100 levels required the armor penetration system they had in place. So when they nixed armor pen, they had to reduce the levels from 100 to 10.

I really hope they re-implement it into the current system somehow.

They may. But think about it. If you know the threat a planet is going to be beforehand, you can plan a 'gamey' strategy that makes the game easy.
For instance going to a level 10 planet early and finding an awesome sword to own the rest of the level.
I messaged Tiy about it because there was a video showing how to beat high level monsters early.

Its a pity the 100 level system had to go with the confusing armor. The sectors seem bland now.

I feel like the 100 level system was an illusion of variety, in reality I knew what to expect from each planet. As I see it now, a monster can be more difficult to kill or easier to kill. I like not knowing what to expect when I jump on a planet. I feel like the current system could be more fleshed out eventually with a chance for maybe very hard to kill creatures, hard to kill creatures, average creatures, easy creatures, and very easy creatures. Also maybe, the easier the creature is to kill the more chance it has to be passive. The other system was just limited so that anything on that planet was that lvl, ruined the variety for me. That's just how I feel though.

That sounded kind of fishy to me also. They also claimed there would be no reduction in content, which seems curious, at best.

I didn't mean that it sounded fishy, just that it went way over my head :)

Nah, there isn't a reduction in content, instead of having 10 levels in 1 sector they just made it 1 level on its own. No way that would reduce content since the sector itself is intact. And they wanted to have 100 levels but without those huge numbers they would need with the current system so they made the armor pen system. but since so many people complained about it, they went back to the traditional style with the huge numbers for damage and health pools forcing them to reduce the planet levels so by the end it wouldn't be like this sword does 2.435 million dps, and the boss has 123 million hp.

I don't believe that confusing weapon stats have to go hand in hand with varying threat levels, it was just a flawed system before. I'm hoping that the current system is just a bandaid and that they'll come up with something better before Beta Stage 2. Considering it's a major part of the game, they should put some serious thought into, as opposed to coming up with something over a weekend.

If it really is one threat level a system they should probably take out the label 'threat level'. i think people can figure out that the beta system will be harder than the alpha system when they had to kill a boss to get access to it.
also, there is (or at least there is supposed to be) variation within the systems. i think i felt a difference before i went to the beta system, but can't be certain. some mobs are definitely harder than others though, so its not like there are no surprises.

The variety in the 100 level system was real. The creatures on a lv 5 were definitively more difficult than a lv 1 and a lv 9 more difficult still.

The idea of there being a range of possible threats to discover upon landing on a planet is cool but that is not how the game looks at the moment. Thus far, the challenge presented by every lv 1 I have visited seems the same.
