If anyone can do this (I have tried, and my sprites/artwork suck) I would appreciate it much-ly. I don't care about the race of the characters as long as they don't have wild Beiber hair and are masculine in appearance. Dialogue changes to reflect the gender of the characters is welcome also but it is no big deal, I can try to tweak that myself if I learn how to do it.
I suppose you could make her face a bit less round to dude-ify her. And maybe slightly broader shoulders. Anyway... (And some of these are obvious cop-outs) Abigail => Abraham Caroline => Carl Emily => Emilio Evelyn => Eddy Hayley => Hayden Jas => (Well, we mightn't need to change this one, it's also kind of short for Julian) Jodi => Johnnie Leah => Leo (That one was kind of tough) Marnie => Martin Maru => Mark Pam => Erm... Pat? Paddy? Something along those lines. Penny => Pendal Robin => Robbie Sandy => (Ugh, we already have someone called Sam and Sebastian...) Um... Sanchez? Now I have questions on some of the other names and filenames I see in the characters folder: Dana? (Well, we could leave it, it's also used for guys) Who is this? Dick? I'm not even going to, it's way too obvious a change, but who is this? Josh? Eh?
Alex used to be called Josh earlier in the development of the game. Willy used to be called Dick (lol.), and Dana was probably an older name for one of the gals.
It's a good idea, one I'm sure many have though of, for both all-male, and all-female. Gender bending is always a popular thing, it seems. Jas is short for Jasmine, so... Jermaine? Leah could simply be Lee. Maru could really just stay the same... after all, there's a famous scottish fold cat from Japan named Maru, and he's male. Pam's a hard one... Pat could work, like you said. Maybe Paul. Robin I guess could turn to Robbie, but Robin itself is a unisex name (Robin Williams, anyone?). Sandy could be Sanders.
Lea is a uniaex name, so maybe that would work for Leah? Jason could be an option for Jas. Edwin for Evelyn, Hayle for Hayley. Maybe Panos, Paddy, or Palmer for Pam?
Both of you make them and then people can mix and match? Or collaborate and split the characters between you?
The only thing I would add is more facial hair, longish beards, more stubble otherwise they are perfect!
That is a lovely male Leah for sure, good job. Kind of reminds me of Elliot, but more woodsy and boyish.
This is a really interesting idea to me. It would be nice to not just have the portraits different, but the dialogue as well. I've been messing around with my dialogue xnbs a bit and could see it as something not exactly difficult, but maybe tedious? I was considering doing it myself, but life doesn't give much time for that. I could try it if no one else wants to pick it up, it would just take me a considerably long time.
