Alas, with the new update, my hoarding is over.

Nah, just kidding, that hoarding was for shits and giggles, this hoarding is because I'm playing a character that literally can't help it. Going to try my best not to throw anything away.

I'm trying to cycle through all of my characters that I've created over the years, and when the novakids happen, I can play as a few "gods".

This one is Thomas, an Avian explorer/scientist out to find the truth of the universe.

Are you guys starting new characters with the new update?

I am a huge hoarder and have been looking for the most space-effective way to store things.

The best I have found has been the small lockers in some Apex facilities. They are only a few spaces taller than a standard chest (like a High-Tech chest), but their main advantage is that they are stackable.

I like games like MineCraft, Terraria and StarBound because they very much force you to contemplate your obsession with keeping shit. There's just far too much of everything where picking up and holding onto every item quickly bogs you down, and forces you to spend a good chunk of time just re-arranging inventories and finding things.

More than once have I had to push myself to destroy stacks of random crap, old weapons, misc decorations I'll never use, and it feels good.


edit: And if you're too weak to purge what you don't need, the devs do it for you with character/universe wipes.

That's what I use too - they're also the first (and for a while, only) thing I found that could go into the 3D printer. I had a good 30 or so full of stuff before this update xD

That's what I use. They are the best right now. That doesn't stop me from having loads of chests, however.

Once I get the pixel printer I'm going to mass-produce those lockers. My ship will be a locker-filled hoarder's paradise.

 

The 3D printer is part of your ship from the start, it's the other option on the machine that lets you select techs

Or can I scan objects into the ship's printer? If so, why the heck is the pixel printer craftable?

**fyi- anyone else waiting till we can craft more blocks, like various bricks out of all dat sand and other various blocks? Painting is okay, but I'd love to see more baking/kilning/etc-ing

 

So true. But isn't that the way with all the RPGs that keep your inventory limited somehow? What I really love about this game is that it lets you reproduce all that shiny stuff you encounter, unlike some other games (khm, Terraria, khm) which force you go to the dungeon just to ruin it's decorum.

 

That's just how he is. In stuff where he's just a human, He's a German named Thomas. But I picked avian because in the lore, your avian is atheist. Thomas is also atheist.
