Airlock & Wiring Configuration Assistance

I've been playing StarBound for awhile now, and I've recently begin construction of an undersea base. As a result, I've wanted to devise a functioning airlock system for entry and exit to and from the base, though that's where my issue arises. As much as I love the prospect of wiring things up to do amazing things, I am rather incompetent when it comes to it.

I already have a neat room constructed for the Airlock itself, but now it's come to the actual wiring of the whole thing.

The first picture is the Airlock without any of the wiring displayed,
The second picture is the Airlock with the wiring displayed, of which there is a lack thereof.

Currently, my goal is to have it so when you are on the right of the Airlock, facing the external door, the Airlock is filled with water.

You step close enough to activate the proximity sensor, it detects your presence, and opens the door.

Once instead, the proximity sensors of the external door check to see if there is anyone else waiting to enter, if not, the door shuts, the two hatches below open and drain the water from the room.

Once the draining process is finished, the player can then proceed to the internal door, which checks to see if there is anyone inside using the proximity sensors.

If there is, the door checks to see if there is any water inside the Airlock, if so, the water is drained, and then the door is opened for the player to enter past the internal door, and to proceed to the rest of the base. If there is no water, the internal door automatically unlocks and lets the player proceed.

Once the door is closed and the proximity sensors no longer detect a player, the door closes and the upper hatch opens to fill the room with water. Once the room is filled with water, the hatch closes and the internal door locks to prevent base flooding.

Note: The two small 4x4 boxes on either sides of the left and right drains are meant to house logic gates used in the wiring process, if used.

i want to help. attempting to replicate your setup for testing. maybe i'll learn something about wiring along the way :D

so i'm close, but for some reason after i flood the room and walk in, my external door isn't shutting :X. will continue to try. getting tired, so i may have to finish tomorrow...but i'm still working on it :D

further note: you're going to need a whole lot more logic gates than will fit in 2 4x4 slots (so...8, right?). i had probably 14 or 15 in my attempt so far. might even need a few more.

in the meantime, i saw this the other night and thought it was pretty awesome. maybe it'll give you some ideas for a solution or a redesign. or maybe it'll just be fun to watch *shrug*.

this one might be helpful too. the only real issue here is that you need to be at the inner door's proximity sensors to activate the drains. otherwise it looks pretty much like what you want.

Glad to have another person on this wiring issue. I've been scouring the web for all sorts of resources prior to me attempting this airlock, and I've seen both of the videos. (sbLora's base is just awesome, especially with the wiring, plumbing and the airlock.) As for the logic gates, I'll probably just extend them downward to fit more gates.

Also, I looked back at the pictures of my airlock, and I just thought about putting a pressure plate down in the center platform, perhaps that would work in closing the external door?

Realized the pressure plates are 2-blocks wide instead of 3, just ended up putting them 4 blocks from each of the doors, the internal and external ones.

Heres some inspiration for ya (it dosen't work the way you want, but you might get ideas regardless).

Hm, thanks for showing me some pictures, I'm trying to build them myself to see how they work. I am having a bit of trouble wiring it up though, the copper blocks in the second picture, what are they? I've been trying to figure out what they are. I looked up copper block and placed that in the background, as that looks like what you've done, but I still can't wire it.

Those are just stylish drains. (Theres normal drains there, they just dosen't show well since they get hidden by the pipe bits).

any chance you've figured it out? i know i was close last tuesday after just a bit of time working with the problem, so maybe you've had more success with more time looking at the problem? i got a bit distracted by the overwatch open beta weekend and other life stuff, so i haven't been able to put much more time into the issue yet >.>
