    Post here your ideas for Agriculture, Ganadery and other kinds of farming.

    Agriculture:
    Or the art of plants, seeing them grow from seeds until they re a giantic tree, a beautiful flower, or a poisonous vine.
    Agriculture would serve many purposes, eating, feeding animals, selling, making traps, decorations, seeds to grow more plants...
    Agriculture would need many researches before being able to make an fully functional farm.
    Researches such as: tools to plant them (From wooden hoes to super giantic vehicles with lasers); Food (Like :poo: and water, from simple :poo: and water to Super Instagrowth Mineralized Nutrients and special kinds of water that an single drop works for whole life of plant) (Depending on the richness of the zone, feeding them may or not be neccesary, if your on a river, they wont need water; Light (Can be Natural or Artificial, Natural is obtained in sunny planets and is free, artificial needs energy, but can be used anywhere and if researched enough can make them grow faster or better.
    Certain plants will need of certain enviroment conditions, such as heat, cold, and humidity. Try to find an planet with the correct conditions or develop an biodome with Weather and Temperature controller.

    Plants also become sick. The medicines (If needed) must be disolved in the water of the plant. There are sickness that may need things such as Pesticides, like weed, parasites, etc.

    Plants have ´´stats`` like Resistance (They re more resistant to hostile enviroments), Growth Speed (They grow faster) Growth Quantity (They give more items when you collect them) Etc. Those can be found by researching a seed in Laboratory.
    Seeds that come from a plant will have the same stats as that plant. Stats may change during growth based in the enviroment. If you for example make the temperature a bit hotter, they may either die/grow weaker or develop an higher resistance. You can artificially change an seed stats with advanced machines. This also ocurres in animals in the form of conditions (Vitality, etc)

    Ganadery:
    Or the art of seeing a egg grow into a chicken.
    Farm Animals DONT work like pets, they go around, and if they re hostile, may attack you. They have behaviors, such as triying to escape or moving almost nothing at all.
    There are Three types of animals:
    Herbivore: They eat plants, and produce :poo:, the basic product to feed the plants, and needed to make most of the better kinds of ´´Plant foods``, plus their other special products, such as wool in sheeps. So they can do a loop, you feed them plants, they give you part of what you need to grow more plants, so you can feed it again, so you can grow more plants, etc.
    Carnivore: They eat animals. Depending on their level of hostility, they may only eat dead things, little things, medium sized things (You) or giantic things. Be careful to keep them separate from your other animals, and if you dont feed them often they may go into canibalism and eat others of their same race! They also produce :poo: and often give more meat and better products than Herbivores, due to their higher feeding cost and their increased risk.
    Omnivore: Works as both, Herbivore and Carnivore, and is products in most cases are lowest possible, due that they eat pretty much anything.

    Animals, like plants may have special habitat conditions, temperature, humidity, and certain kinds of blocks in their habitat.

    If they are feed enough, and they live in a habitat they like, with creatures of other gender (Or just two if they dont have sexual reproduction) they will breed and have an children, which will slowly grow, it will require some more food than an adult, after some time it will become an adult.

    99% of creatures will need water or certain liquid or gas to survive.

    Animal Conditions:
    Vitality: Vitality is basically the HP of the animal. Vitality slowly decreases over time, when hit, when not feed, and when sick. Animals have different vitality.
    Sickness: Sickness can be caused by many reasons, contagiated from another creature (Or born with), making them eat things that they shouldnt eat, having them live in habitats they dont like, etc. Sickness may have different effects, such as vitality decrease, Sterilization (Not being able to have childrens), causing them to not eat till death, causing it to attack another animals and more.
    Medicines may cure sickness and increase vitality, however the more you give an animal a medicine the less effect it will have next time, so be sure to distribute them correctly to have the animal live the most time possible. Giving to many medicines in short time to an animal may kill it.
    Happiness: An happy animal has better chances of successfully breeding. Happines is caused if they live in their habitat, are feed often enough, and live in team if they are teaming creatures or alone if they re lone creatures.
    Hunter creatures prefer to kill the animals theirselves than to eat already hunted animals (Most).

    Uses:
    Money, or vanity, or dyes, or crafting, or medicines, or just for fun. My main source of PLATINUM coins in Terraria was a farm, and it was pretty hard to make them there.

    All kinds of farming are serious things with MILLIONS of uses!

    Also now theres an optional Hunger Bar. They could be used as food. Or as a weapon! Make your own poisons with customized effects based on which plants in which quantities you use!
    And some plants could have special effects, like giving warmth, or creating bubbles of air underwater, or glowing, etc etc etc.
    They re one of the MAIN components in chemistry, you could use them to make a lot of effects on yourself. I just hope that an cool chemistry mechanic is added for plants, unlike it was in Terraria. (Maybe that should be my next suggestion? Do you want me to make a thread about chemistry?)

    More:
    Cloud Farms: By evaporating water in a closed zone, you make clouds. You can then store those clouds in bottles for many uses.
    Weaponry: With an machine named the Cloudelectrificator, you can put some energy in the cloud. When the bottle is thrown and broken, an mini-storm will appear there, with all the power of a real one, unleashing his fury upon anyone below.
    Stealth: By compressing high quantities of cloud in a bottle, when thrown and broken, it will create a temporal fog, on which most enemies that depend on sight will not attack you, or even attack randomly around and hit their allies!
    Weather Control: You need clouds as fuel to power an Weather Control Device.

    Cross Breeding: Trough the DNA Mixer ( http://community.playstarbound.com/index.php?threads/dna-mixer.465/ ) you can combine up to 4 races of plants or animals in a single one (Or even combine plants and animals if you re very CrAzY), and see the results. Maybe you will create an animal that gives both of the products or even a new one at twice the rate, or a super hostile depredator that will eat all creatures (Even you) and give nothing in exchange.
    If DNA Mixer is too hard to add, there is another option which is simply putting two similar plants (Not identical though) near, and there is a random chance that they will form a new plant that is an combination of both. This new combination can be further breed with other plants to make it even more exotic. Like Minecraft Industrialcraft² mod agriculture. Same happens with animals.

    Cloning Laboratories: At exchange of energy and some DNA of an creature, you may directly create an adult, however it will have the EXACT SAME vitality, sickness and Medicines Resistance as the original animal. So be sure to extract the DNA of the best animals only! The energy needed isnt free enough, so get your pixels ready.

    Mushroom Farms: Mushrooms are pretty easy to farm, they feed off corpses (give them raw meat and that kind of things), most prefer darkness and spread fastly in pretty much any kind of dirt.

    Coral Farms: Corals can only live underwater, but with a light source. They are pretty much like plants in other aspects. Some corals can give special colors to the water they are planted on.

    Bacteria Farming: You need a bottle of water, when you go to a planet, you may bring some bacteria in the water back, though tech you can find further uses to those bacteria, most of the time buffs.

    Ya a person would need a farm once in a while such for... well what else? your health bar! or it could just be for amusement

    Looks nice. Would make a game feel more real, on par with advanced metallurgy suggested in another thread.
    By the way, by this I hopefully request the Chemistry topic ) One already exists, but it doesn't propose anything specific and detailed

    Good. I try to keep Guis away from this kinds of ideas, they make a game look more artificial. I thinks it better if you can directly interact with things without need of a GUI.
    Not possible in all ideas though.

    Anyways will get on working with chemistry idea... Soon.

    I agree completely... the level of complexity this would add makes you have to pay attention to plants and animals to be able to get anything good from them.

    great idea
    the only thing is animals should probably just have hp and a food bar or something not to complex and plants should just not grow properly on incorrect soils and wilt. remember this is a sandbox adventure game not a farming game (unless your willing to delay release and/or updates by quite a bit), if you want a more complex farming game, play farm simulator its on steam too.[​IMG]
    i love the DNA mixing idea though.

    A sandbox game is a lot of games together.
    You can do what you want, thus is logical that if you want you should be able to have your complex farm needs. Would you want a game on where you re permanently on creative mode? Imagine if on minecraft they removed hardcore and survival.
    And the This will make release later is no argument. Every single feature in the forums can make the release later.

    Something I'm not so fond of is the artificial lighting that can make plants grow better. Of course you can use light 24/7 as to make them grow faster, but I'm not so happy with the idea of 'better light'

    Wouldn't it be worth the wait? Even so I'd rather have to wait longer and have lots of awesome stuff in than to have a boring, quickly finished product.

    Don't forget, if they take time to add something you might not like it might also mean that they take time to add something you like, and someone else doesn't.

    Could there be dominant plants and seeds? (Like I plant a random seed on a planet and that plant that grows from it just dominates the whole planet)
