    (personal opinion/experience)

    Pros-
    • Better story
    • Better mob designs
    • Better weapons
    Cons-
    • 1.0 feels very laggy compared to other versions
    • Graduation scene text takes way too long to move on
    • Not much of a good tutorial other than the desk at the beginning
    • Finding the gateway is a huge pain, especially when it's far away
    • Mob spawns feel way too high
    Suggestions-
    • Lower mob spawn rate
    • Make the distance to the gateway consistent and not too far away
    • Make the first day last longer (or start the day/night cycle once the gateway is found)
    • Add a quest compass that leads to the Core Fragment mine
So, overall, it's been a negative experience for me. I'm sure the game will become much more enjoyable once I find a way to fix my lag and move on from the first planet.

I strongly disagree with mob spawn rates, i enjoy there being some danger as I travel. At the very very start it was a bit much but as soon as I had a shelter to retreat to it became balanced. Now I love it.

If it's far away, just walk the other direction. ( Pro tip)

I wish the quest compass told me that...

I'm gonna have to disagree about decreasing the mob spawn rates. They're fine just the way they are and they bring more action into exploring, plus more pixels and other drops that you need. For core fragments you can just mine straight down, literally. Just bring some wooden platforms and you'll be deep underground in just a few minutes and use your matter manipulator to check for areas with no blocks below you.

I've found that 1.0 runs much smoother than the previous version, and I'd say a lot of people agree with me. This could be some type of issue with your computer.

2 and 3 are pretty much just nitpicks. Some people who play this game may need the slow text speed due to something like, say ADD or something along those lines.

I kind of agree with 4...sort of. A good portion of this game's story missions depend on RNG, and needless to say...it's not, eh, particularly enjoyable when RNG decides to flip you the double-bird.

I don't mind 5, but there should be some way to tune down mob spawn rates.

I understand that some people are having a hard time running this update smoothly. My gaming pc has never run it better!!! Some fixes i tell people that generally work for non gaming pcs and possibly bugged gaming pcs:

Before this please update all graphic and processing drivers.

    1) go to where your starbound is located.
    2) Select which launch version you run (such as windows 64 or 32 ..).
    3) delete the sbboot.config
    4) go to the giraffe storage and delete the config from that.
    5) go to the steam library and right click on starbound and go to properties.
    6) Under the local files tab and click verify integrity of game cache..
    7) close steam once its finished and files are restored run starbound and enjoy!!

hope this helps. If not let me know I have lots of tricks that help. A lot of these tips helped fix my windows XP to make it run almost smooth 40fps. Which is nothing but hot dang for an XP!!

For tutorials/intro scenes in games the graduation scene is really over pretty quick.
