Modding Help adding new hairs?

I tried adding a new hair, by copping an existing one, renaming it to the next number and editing it....but its not in

any ideas?

edit, also what program do I need to edit the .blah files?

I just did this for hylotl race , add the hair in humanoid/RACE/hair then go to the species folder, and add it into the .species file under "hair".

Im on linux using gedit to open it, but im pretty sure that if you drag it into notepad it will work as well.

I tried this myself and the hair shows up, but the head does not show underneath it and has a white box in the background. Did I miss something after adding it to the available hairs in the species with it placed in the human hair folder?

 

its because the image you put into it doesn't have trans! you need to remove the background!

 

Silly me, I will try making it transparent to see if it will work.

 

good! but make sure to be careful! if any of the pixels for your hair is even a tiny bit trans it wont pick it up and it will wont change color!
