Hello, can't find bug section, so i'm posting here:

Please, add support for 2560x1080 resolution. 21:9 - the future of gaming.

    Thank you.

I don't think that not supporting extrawidescreen is a bug. They'll add all this frilly extra stuff in phase 3 of the beta, iirc.

I didn't see anything in a quick review of the configs, so this likely will need to be patched by the devs. Although the "future of gaming" will, hopefully, become wearable display devices such as the Oculus Rift. Granted, my 2560x1440 Korean monitor is nice, but I'd much rather have the functionality the Rift provides.

it's actually already supported. i've been playing at 5760 x 1080 for weeks. you just need to open the config file and edit the "windowed resolution" , "maximized resolution", or "fullscreen resolution" to whatever values you want.

I'm not really seeing how the oculus rift would work well with this game, since it's not first-person. The rift is very limited in its uses, honestly.

Oh bother, I didn't even think to check the standard config file. To confirm, that is the file found here: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Starbound", named "starbound.config".

The ability to pan and zoom the screen using only your face would be glorious, given we already have a bothersome panning feature at this time, as well as a zoom feature.

And the simulated 3D would be able to add a level of depth that you cannot get, currently.

The Oculus Rift wouldn't work at all for this game.

If the game went to that big of a resolution, that'd be amazing.

er and when i say weeks i really mean what FEELS like weeks, since it's only been 10 days :p

Starbound is using SDL. Last I knew SDL was having problems supporting multiple monitors correctly. As for the future of gaming, I really do believe we'll be on 4K (3840 by 2160) monitors long before the majority of gamers are using multiple screens.

First off, Nvidia Surround and Eyefinity support would be sweet. Secondly, I play Terraria with the Oculus Rift, and its not half bad. With TriDef, the game looks very good, much more of an improvement than a standard monitor. I would love to see support for this, as its not common with Oculus Rift games due to the perspective, yet these games are definitely doable with the rift and shouldn't be side swiped just because it isn't First Person. There are techniques used to give 2D games depth, which the OR does Very well..

Exactly, and 3D is the future of gaming, as opposed to more detail and larger or longer screens.

Thanks for answers! I will check config, btw resolution works in windowed mode.

What does the resolution value do in the windowed mode? I tried playing around with it, but it didn't change the render size, nor the screen size, so I assumed that it was a full screen only function.

Yeah Ive used Nvidia Surround too, But unfortunately, even with a 690 GTX, I cant pull decent frames with 1 monitor, I will give it a shot when the game is more optimized, but for now, I wouldnt call it "Supported".

Why would you ever use a larger resolution than 1080? :V
    It's a pixel game dammit!

Put a 24" 1920x1080 display next to a 27" 2560x1440 display, and you'll see why. Or at least, everyone that sees my display at home agrees.

Still, Oculus Rift would work even better. And you'd get the side bonus of looking like you are from the future!

That looks so terrible lol. Unless I was playing a game like Eve Online or some other game where multiple things are going on at the same time, I would never use multiple monitors. On a 2d platformer? No.
