I liked how minecraft you have to put a crafting grid. i would like to see that in Starbound because just standing near it is pretty boring. so that's a good thing to have right?

Hopefully even more complex than that, but I don't mind if it's just like in Terraria. :DD

Why not? You don't have to remember all crafting recipes, just take good materials. And if Starbound will be so big as they said, there will be milions of crafting recipes.

But you have to stand near it and you never know when your close enough and its just hard. its..... hard. sometimes.

plus this isn't Terraria. its star bound.

Standing near craftingstation is hard? What about trying to remember thousands of recipes? I think that it's harder...

First things first. Could you guys please stop debating about whether or not this game is Terraria (which it's not), whether it's Minecraft (which it's not), or whether it's supposed to be realistic (which, again, it's not)?

    Onto the idea.

I prefer the Terraria style of crafting; it was simple and worked well. That being said, I don't have a problem with the Minecraft crafting system either. With the "Terraria" crafting, it's more convenient, especially for a game with such large amounts of recipes.

So, while I don't have problems with either system, if it came down to it, I would pick "Terraria" crafting 10 times out of 10.

Terraria and Minecraft aren't the only games out there with crafting systems, it doesn't have to be one or the other either.

I'm on the fence as I enjoy the idea of a more complicated crafting system, but at the same time, it makes it possible that without released info, people just straight up miss certain recipes. Or get stuck trying to figure them out. I remember first time I played minecraft, I instantly went for a crafting guide online. And while terraria was simple it's easier for a first time playaround.

If you include a more complicated crafting system, perhaps things could be included like in game recipe's that tell you how to craft things, or even have npc's tell you and u have to write it down outside of game. Quests could be for recipe's at that point, or even rare drops from enemies, and bosses.

Starbound is going to be very complex in crafting, I'd imagine, and a 9x9 grid just wouldn't be enough.

    o.o you realize a 9x9 grid would be a box of 27 squares?! That's not enough @.@

What I meant to say was 3 by 3.

    9x9 would be 81 squares.

 I got the 3 square thing stuck in my head, either way the point was that it would be far more than enough
