Was wondering on what people thought of Achievements added to the game?

I generally think that its an addition to the game that makes things worth while, especially when you gain thing like rewards. They dont have to be majorly OP Rewards but even a small badge to show that you have completed that task

And have better rewards depending on the difficulty of the achievement

(Example: Killing a player in PvP *First Blood Badge*

I think doing things in games tend to be worthwhile for their own sake - if the game is any good, anyway. That said, achievements don't hurt anything, and it can be fun to do something crazy and have one pop up for it.

  3. There is about 1 topic per day about this. And Tiy stated they would like to ADD Steam Achievements to the game, then it's possible at least in Steam version of the game.
Any more info is unknow. But I like achievements. ^^

Well achievements will be on steam so I assume achievements will also be integrated into the game itself since I don't believe it will have to be on steam. Not sure if that was what you were talking about exactly or if you meant like in call of duty where you have a list of all the badges (like double kills) and how many times you have earned that accolade.

  5. If there is Steam achievements, there would make nonsense add them to main core game, and vice versa. I would like more the In-game system than the Steam One, but Tiy AMA says me he wants to use every features in Steam, even Workshop, then I wonder, what about the non-steam version? --'

I hate steam achievement though lol i just find them pointless... even if ingame achievements are pointless they feel like iv done some thing instead of like steam

  7. Achievements are good for the sense of progression, and the challenges, when you like to be all the Best one, etc... Achievements will give you work enough if they represent a challenge! :cautious:

"You have flushed a toilet, congratulations! Heres a trophy!"
"You have just done something to progress the game that you clearly already know about, here, let me break the immersion for a second, and here have a trophy for killing a dude that you are required to do"

I prefer achievements if they are rewarded for actually completing some kind of challenge, like kill 50 space penguins with a single shot. Think of SC2, you actually have to go out of your way or do something challenging to be given an achievement, which is what I like. I like achievements even more if they reward you with something for getting them all, like a super secret extra difficulty level or something else. If you are a completionist I think you should be rewarded in some type of way for getting all the achievements.

    Achievements - Yes.
Rewards - No, unless its like 5-10 space credits or something really minor.... maybe small "chest" that will give you random item and has chance to drop rare/uncommon/common item but you don't have to open it you can just keep it in your storage or put on a display in your base/spaceship.

  10. I was talking about challenging achievements. Like PS3 Trophy system is a challenge decent enough, variety and the Plats are really Hardcore for most games.

yeah thats what i was getting at low spec rewards unless the difficulty of the achievement is LARGE

  13. POSSIBLE LEADERBOARDS, if the achievements give us X points for example, with lots of hardcore ones, it would be interesting since Tiy Stated something about leaderboards being possible in this game. :)

Basic achievements I hate. Microsoft has a guideline where 80% of achievements or so should be earned on the first casual playthough of a game, and that's confusing to me.

Achievements should be, well, things that you achieve. Either a badge of your decisions ("Good Dad" on Heavy rain for consistently making 'proper' choices) or your skill (preferably as opposed to tenacity. Instead of 1000 kills, maybe 50 kills of a higher level, or something in that nature).
Good achievements would be a nice addition. Minecraft style "Make a crafting bench" or something equally trivial I don't see the point in.

I quite like the idea of achievements and rewards, maybe also something like a feat of strength for donating or early participation.

    If you're going to be getting awards for in game stuff, I would like them to be medals within the game that you could hang up. It's just like showing childhood trophies and such thing to friends just to brag you did and they didn't. I would dedicate an entire hall just so show off to all the fine NPC ladies! I am so alone when this game launch I need some friends. ;-;

I don't want acheivement rewards that give you any kind of bonus to stats or damage, purely aesthetic stuff like forum badges would be pretty neat I guess. The reason for this would be that statgains from achievements for example would push you into the world of achievement hunting if you are to be competative in PvP and otherwise. I would be quite contempt with cool badges and funny hats, but anything more and I'll be disappointed

I wouldn't mind achievements as long as they were actually achievements. Not things like "go left" or "collect 1,000 Pixels", but things like "beat the first boss" or "craft a high-tier item", "expand your space ship" or "scorch 16 space penguins in one continuous blast without running out of energy".

Also, no PvP achievements. They just get farmed anyway, and are basically pointless.

As for rewards, keep them small or aesthetic. So small Pixel rewards, vanity armour or low-tier equipment which looks good.

I agree, I enjoy achivments which give you something even if it is jut like a 2% speed boost or +4% damage with fire weapons.

Or perhaps you recive like a framed picture ingame of the icon for the achivment which you can hang up so you could make a wall of your verious achivments.
