Accidentally Deleted Mods Folder

Sorry if the answer to this is really obvious, but I wanted to check to make sure.

So I cleared out my mods folder so I could experience the update proper. Problem is though I didn't realize until now that I deleted the entire folder itself.

Is it possible to fix this by making a new folder and simply titling it "mods?" Or did I mess up big time?

no, there shouldn't be an issue, as long as you put it in the correct folder. Giraffe, to which the update version is.
else just verify install, and should create it for you. At least I think it would.

Alright. How can I tell if it's indeed in Giraffe?

I'm pretty sure it's not necessary to have the folder while you play vanilla, but when you want to install mods for Giraffe, make sure the "mods" folder is located at "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Starbound\giraffe_storage".
This is for Windows, of course, and I'm not sure the exact location in Linux or OSX, but it shouldn't be hard to find, if you have installed mods before.

the only thing the game does is check at Starbound\giraffe_storage\mods if there are any mods installed. The folder itself isn't actually a component of the game, it's just where the game knows it should look. You can just recreate it.

Also, look in your computer's wastebin, that's usually where items end up before you completely delete them. If the folder is in there, you can simply restore it.

well the directories are marked storage koala & storage giraffe. That of course is windows. Like the other person mentions.

To know if your install is giraffe it would have those directories I would think. Otherwise you don't have giraffe, as the directory structure changed slightly; hence the separate directories for Koala and giraffe...

This is also the case in OS X, though the actual directories are in the hidden ~/Library folder (at least if you're using Steam). You can still get there really easily by selecting the "Browse Local Files..." option from the Steam properties menu, which plops you right at the Starbound top folder.
