About the new trees.

So, been messing about with harvesting and planting trees, figured I'd post what I'd found here.


Trees now drop a sapling/planter item, current name is "todo" - a placeholder?

After building up a tree farming area and mucking about with planter placement, I found the following:

Planters should be placed at with at least 6 single empty blocks inbetween them, if this is done, they seem to sprout guaranteed.

I tried placing planters all next to each other first and got very random results, i switched to this placement when i noticed that the spacing described above was in effect for placing a fresh planter next to a grown tree.


Thorny trees in my new characters spawn world seem to drop 2-3 planters, very handy.

Found some veeery tall jungle trees that dropped one planter only.

Flesh "trees" drop no planter. ("awwwww")


-Tree growth seems to happen "off-screen" so you are best to put your planters down and wander off.

 

nice little tidbits of info, I'm gonna have to experiment once I get the time.

 

todo is not a temp name, it's tree in uk speak.

 

Sadly, there doesn't seem to be a way to regrow the eyeball trees...

 

They did seem to have "sprout" files in the folder, so maybe it will be added in time. I could be reading things incorrectly, though.

 

I have packed them in right next to each other and gotten them all to grow for a whole screens worth of trees.

 

Just like in Spore, I was planning to genocide those abominations when I encountered them anyway!
