    Greetings to the forum!
So, I decided to build a house on an ocean planet (to serve as a lab more precisely), after I was done thinking how the building will be shaped, and where it will be "placed", I started "demolishing" this relatively little island which was also the place where my character would spawn from the ship. (my plan was to remake that island as an entrance to the main building).

After I removed all those blocks, and leaving only the background blocks, instead of starting the construction, out of curiosity I decided to beam up, and come back down, just to see..would it spawn me in the water?

Well, it just spawned me to the exact oposite side of the planet, I had to walk some time, then I found what was left of the island I removed.

Then I decided to remove a few blocks of the new spawn point, and see where it would spawn me next time (I was hoping it would spawn me on the same island, just a bit further away), but no, it spawned me on another island.

Soooo, my question is, how many blocks does one have to remove....in order for the game, to spawn you to a different location? and how does the game decide where to spawn you?

Now regarding ocean planets, my guess is...if every walkable block is removed from beneath the spawn point, and there remains nothing but water, the game will spawn you somewhere where there are some walkable blocks, I might need some confirmation on this.

And my 2nd question is...if I remove everything from the spawn point, and then immediately put something back into place (without leaving the planet), would it spawn me there?
Thank you for taking your time to read my dilemma.

If you remove all valid blocks from under a spawn point, yes it will change the spawn. It could be on the other side of the planet, or right next to the old spawn.

No netative effects from what I can tell. Just go into admin mode, stand where you want it to be, then do /setspawnpoint and you are done.

Most of that you would need to try yourself.

If you want to force a spawn location, use the admin command /setspawn

I had no idea you can set a spawn location, at the moment, I'm experimenting a bit on that island, instead of building, I really want to know how how this works
-First thing, the water thing is true...if I remove every walkable block until water remains, the spawn will be changed
-It seems the game won't choose another spawn if you dig a bit..but not too much, I'm not exactly how much you have to dig, on the exact spawn point, to have it changed, a few times, the game let me spawn on the same place I dug pretty deep, then it changed..it seems it might be random.
-After removing everthing from the spawn, and remaking it, it seems it spawns me right back there, but I'm not sure how well it would fare on long term...after beaming up and coming back down 4-5 times, nothing changed, so ill take a break, and come back later, see if it would change.

Question, If using this..setspawn command, to force a certain spawn point, would it negatively affect my game in any way? I would like to know that
And how do I use it..do I just type down /setspawn, standing on a specific place I'd liket o keep spawning on?
    Thanks :p

What happens... if you remove every block on a planet...

Be the first to find out. Considering the impracticality of that, I don't think its really a major issue.
