I know this will probably get more added to it later in development, but this is kinda bothering me right now. So I noticed someone on youtube playing an apex, and he had banana bread, which gave him a speed boost, and was generally pretty cool. But in my experience (I hadn't played an apex) I hadn't seen many "cool" foods, most just give regen. Now I have progressed very far in the game, but he had it at the beginning. I haven't yet crafted all of the foods available from the beginning, because I haven't found the plants for them yet on my characters. Anyway, I decided to check out what each race has available at the start, and here are my notes: { All have bread and wheat, but for some reason fully grown wheat doesn't always drop wheat... this is dumb since bread is the one recipe that you are guaranteed to have, so making it harder to get the stuff for even that is kind of annoying recipes seem to not be always constant (new hylotl was slightly different than old one) but apex recipes available are same as ones I saw on a youtuber none of the entry level crops seem to have long growth times, but based on what I've seen from other posts, some of the things required for other recipes (toxictop for one) take a lot of time Floran! start with boneboo only recipe using boneboo, boneboo and meat chunks, provides regen Avian! start with feathercrown (1 block in size) no recipes that use feathercrown, only other plants that I don't have Glitch! start with boltbulb (1 block in size) only recipe that uses boltbulb also needs currentcorn, don't have that Hylotl! start with coralcreep a few recipes use coralcreep, but all also require a different plant Apex! start with banana recipes that use banana: all of them; ones accessible at start (just meat and/or wheat needed): roast banana (just food), banana bread(on fire & speed/jump boost for short time, plus longer regen), battered banana (regen) banana bread is one of the coolest foods that I have used, simply because I haven't tried the others (they're harder to get than banana bread) it is also very useful having that speed boost able to be used early game, and it's not a small speed boost, it makes you very quick Humans! start with corn, how very boring recipes off the bat: hamburger(regen)(bread & meat), sweet corn(just food)(corn), sweet corn's description suggest it can be cooked, not sure where though } I generally think that the Humans are just boring, and don't plan on playing them, and their food is pretty boring too. But as you can see, while most races have a few crops that can be associated with them (like glitch with automato and dioda and stuff) you only start with one, which often isn't enough to make any of the recipes you start with. The exception is Apex, who get bananas (which seem to be the only crop associated with them) and have many recipes that use banana, and can be gotten from the start. The main one I'm jealous of is banana bread, though. Anyway, I think it's kind of not fair that the Apex start with 3 unique foods that they can make right off the bat, especially one with a cool effect, while often other races can only make bread, because they don't have the materials for other things. I remember, my avian's first complex dish was actually automato stew, instead of something avian, because I found a glitch village, with the recipe and the farms with the crops. That, and the fact that as an avian, I started with feathercrown, and had literally no recipes that even had that as an ingredient. TL;DR: Anyway, that's all, I think they should give more easily accessible foods at the start, so all races can have cool foods like the apex's banana bread at the start. Thanks for listening to my thoughts, and have a good rest of your day, or tomorrow if you're reading this late at night, I guess.
Floran Hot Bones- Gives a speed boost, and lights you on fire (doing no damage but making you glow for the duration) Edit: I just realized, that after I had stopped reading your post about halfway, it turned itself to a completely different subject matter than I was expecting originally. Which is why I just commented with hotbones. After reading the rest I agree, chilis were quite hard for me to find, and as such left me without being able to get my delicious hot bones.
How do you craft those though? Because I didn't see it my starting set of recipes when I did the floran one. And I don't know if they'll use just boneboo, and meat or wheat. I'm not saying that they don't have the recipes available, just that the Apex are unique in getting them right at the start of the game, like, as soon as you get a cooking table and plant your crops, no other work required.
Hot Bones is Boneboo and Chilis. You make it at the cooking table like the other recipes. I have them all unlocked upon starting.
But you don't start with chili's, which means if they aren't on your first planet, you can't get that at the start. The Apex are GUARANTEED to have wheat, and banana, which is what you need for banana bread. Thus, my post.
Step 1 : Aquire around 2000ish pixels Step 2: Find a world with a village of your preferred race. Step 3: Buy the crap out of the ingredients you want. I honestly left a Florian village with about 500 Chilli, Meaty Bones, and the third hard-to-find cooking ingredient I can't remember. The Eyeballs and poison tops seem easy to find, atleast for me. Remember there might be multiple ways to complete your objectives, standing around staring at your farm all day might not be the quickest, or easiest. As far as "Apex Banana Bread is OP goes" beta be beta be beta.
But...... But I like staring at my farm all day. It's beautiful and spans for acres out my backyard. It makes a lovely view while relaxing on the back porch eating hot bones.
My Avian actually has a large collection of recipies, just from exploring. Stuffed Automato, utilizing Automato and Rice, both easy t find in large quantities. Roast Dinner utilizing a Potato, an Avesmingo, and 2 pieces of Raw Alien Meat, provides about 70% bonus speed, a minor glow, 10% jump boost, massive health regen. Green-Rarity food. Automato Stew from Automato, Meat Chunks, and a Dioda, all which can be purchased in Glitch Village food stores for 4 pixels each. recipe can also be found there. Sweet Time from Diodia, Neon Melon, and Sugar. Bit trickier to get, but Neon Melon grows in massive quantities next to Rainbow Trees. Sugarcane seeds can be found in Glitch Chests in villages and castles, and pure sugar can be purchased from MOST Grocers. Pussplum Pie from meat chunks, Pussplum, and wheat. Pussplum's a bit trickier to get seeds for, but is well worth it once you do, as a few recipes that utilize minor jump boosts use Pussplum. Copper Key Pie, from Diodia, Wheat, and Kiwi. All but wheat can be found on Desert Planets where Glitch live, along side Neon Melon. But, again, Most Grocers carry Weat. Candy Automato, from Candy and an Automato.... seriously, I don't know *HOW* to find Candy, haven't found any peaceful human, Hylotl, or Avian settlements, so no real luck any time for those, sorry :s Burning Eyeballs, from Occulemon, Chili, and Toxictop. Speed Boost, and Regen, I found it in an Eyeball Chest on an Eyeball planet. Black Current Crumble, don't know what it does, but it IS high on my "Make this" priority list. Wheat, Sugar, Eggshoot, AND a Bultbulb. If you explore peaceful settlements on lower-level planets, you can find a myriad of recipes, and seeds! Just keep searching!
I think Apex were sort of the favorites of a lot of the staff making the game. If you go back and check their videos, typically they played either Apex or Glitch. There's also a lot more Apex kitsch, like the banana propaganda posters, ape flu posters, etc. The other races just don't feel as fleshed out as Apex and Glitch, but I'm sure they'll get there eventually.
