About Colonies and the Generated Quests

    I know they've been working on the procedurally generated quests for colonies and such, but will these such quests only be in the colonies you make?
    It'd be interesting if you could get these quests from the random villages you find on other planets as well.

    I can confirm that in the current nightly version you do run into the randomly generated quests in random villages (did a couple of them in a glitch village).

    How were the quests? Were they just random fetch/deliver quests? And the rewards from finishing it?

    No. There's growing crop quests.

    Last time I trid nightly, I had a floran give me some seeds and a quest to grow chiles.

    Well, you can tell they aren't finished yet. They were mostly fetch quests (i think i got one growing quest too) and from going trough a glitch village once i got 3 "get me a glitch table then give it to this guy" quests. I didnt run into any "defend against x" quests or anything like that, but those might not be implemented yet (or i might have just been unlucky). We know from the blogposts that defense missions and such will be included.

    Many quests also have more then one stage. A very simple example: One guy asks you to deliver a note to this guy for reasons, after the delivery the target often asks you to deliver another note back (or another item, etc).

    Since i was on a low tier world the rewards were kinda meh (but i was realy happy about getting sugar from one of them since i needed it for making a cake, i also got a lot of other seeds too that i wanted since i was making a farm), but from what i understand the rewards should be leveled with the world difficulty, so while i got some crappy weapons and stuff on this world the same quest on a magma world should give top tier stuff.

    The system is there, it just needs polish and more quests and it allredy makes colonies feel much more alive. But it does suffer from the old "you feel like a delivery boy even when you are a badass adventurer of doom".

    o kewl thx. Hopefully some quests activate something really epic and some mandatory to advance game.
    What I hope Quests will be is something similar to how Terraria does it with the event/boss summons
    • I miss it when night time isn't at all scary and world so empty :c
    Apparrently your colony can get raided too. I mean Tiy mentioned it a while back but I haven't been raided by anything. have you?

    If i remeber the blogpost correctly i belive thats one of the possible defense quests. As in, you talk to a npc and he says "help these guys are comming for reasons". I do not think the raids happen outside of quests, but i could be wrong.

    I didnt run into any quests like that so i do not know if they are implemented yet.

    Okay, I feel really dumb, but I have to ask - how the HECK do you deliver the note to the target colonist? I have the note in my inventory, I click to interact with the colonist - nothing. I put the note in my itembar and select the item and try to use on the colonist that way - nothing. I try to take the item out of my inventory and click on the colonist, nothing. I even tried throwing the item at the colonist. Am I missing something? I am running the nightly on Linux, so maybe this is a glitch or something. But maybe, just maybe it's me being stupid...

    Anyone come across anything interesting yet? All I get are capture X creature. Which spawns surprisingly close to you :/ [ I also fail these quests right away once i accept quest ]

    I changed the way the game uniquely identifies the notes this week, so it's possible that if you started the quest one day and resumed it the next you'll be unable to complete it now.

    Whatever the issue was, the most recent nightly update fixed it, I think. I have not had the opportunity to test the note quests(I deleted my world file so that I can play with the new micro dungeons), but with the item quests, the gift receivers now tell me to put the gift in their house and then tell me to go talk to the quest giver. They did not do that before this most recent nightly, even when I tried putting the gift in their house and then speaking to the quest giver, I could not complete the quests. Now I can at least with the furniture gift quests. I'll try a note quest ASAP and let you know.
