This would be an awesome addition, especially if cleansing or destroying a space station reaped rewards at the end of your trials, like unique decorations/loot!
Omg love the idea but it can't be easy to optain and all your pets can be in the eco biome just doing there thing until you return (plus decorate it and have locked rooms where you need certain materials to open it up nd find the secrets inside)
I would love to see something like this implemented. It reminds me of an abandoned space station in Firefly. I'd be even happier if the they made a Reaver reference with a planet completely surrounded with ship husks and debree!
I would love to see chunks of the station missing, and your not effected by gravity then. Go to far out you die, don't have a mask you die, etc.
Asteroid space stations!? They would be like a small planet, but still could have an outpost on the surface, with rare materials to mine out from the core.
how about my idea of a portal like stargate. my post: http://community.playstarbound.com/index.php?threads/stargate-like-portal.24683/#post-974588 p.s. read RoflSStime's 1st post if you ask me it would fit nicely with space stations
Wait aren't derelict ships from start-wars or something? (I probably just said something really stupid)
great idea in general. but what sense does owning a space station make when there is a lack of content coming with this new ownership? first, stumble over a radio signal (a helping call perhaps) of unknown origin and than making up for an exploration to find its source may be interesting. but i dont like the idea of finding just another location (here disguised as an abondoned space station) through which the player has to grind till the end...just to "own" it in the end an perhaps to find better weapons and better clothes (boring). but packing this all up into a little neat story with a mysterious background to discover at the end (perhaps an open end with unanswered questions) to start from this point a following exploration to come one step closer to the truth...that would sound interessting to me. to say it simple. to find and explore such a space station could be the beginning of a very good step by step built (longer) sidequest with real intensity an depths, which puts in more depths to the game in genrall. perhaps the hints of a long forgotten race leads us to some conclusion towards found things on some planets, we couldnt quite explain till the point where we discovered the hints in that space station. the possibillities are endless. and i truly hope the devs not only concentrate on that spiral of fighting for outfit and weapons, finding new locations for even more outfits and even more weapons and instead they consider putting fights sensefully in the storylines to make sense and having the feeling its all part of a development the player is going through. the danger of having the feeling that there are trillions of fights in a game just because there are no important other serious contents (besides digging and building...hmmm) are big. think about it. thx. p.s. when owning such a station, it makes sense that certain interesting NPCs such as special traders or sanitors settle down who run the place for the player and with which one can communicate. ah, new additional idea: you can open a space bar in the station. if you run it good, it can become legendary in the universe. you could name it after the forgotten race (THE BLA BLA BLAS SPACE BAR) whos traces you may find ***. but you have to find fitting personal. people (or creatures) with sprecial abilities and trustworthy. those are hard to find and so you cruise the planets to gather your new team. after everything goes well, you can earn money. of course in the beginning you have to put a lot of money into your project...this could be entertaining for a longer period. ***why not open a museum, where the found important objects are exhibitioned...for more visitors ... and more money
update: the space-station/ museum/ restaurant (at the end of the universe) could be attacked (and maybe taken over) by space pirates. the player and his team could defend it during an attack or try to get it back, when its already been taken over. meteroids could destroy some parts of the station. meteriods....hmmm. you know the movie THE BLOB? everything could happen ps. why do those dumbasses bastard space anarchist socalled pirates besiege your spacestation anyway? why do thy have any interests in stealing your dugged out artefacts of ancient races anyway? is there a higher goal? a well structured plan? do the pirates know more then the player or are they just greedy? I´d prefer the first possibilty ... and there you have it ... the beginning of another epic quest-series with many decisions to be made. make deals with the pirates to know more? work for them to get their trust? attack them simply to get back your goods (perhaps the artefacts are already sold to greedy merchants???) and reveal the secret background why they are so important for this fraction. if you are in an urgent need of extra dialogue-writing...ask me
Would be a really good idea! Hopefully the devs implement this in the game! or maybe it will come out in a patch later on
We'd like to put in things besides PLANETS that you can visit in the navigation. This means potentially finding stuff like an abandoned space station in orbit. We're not quite at that stage yet but it's definitely something we've had in our minds forever.
I totally agree, that would be awesome, I had an idea kind of like dead space (totally original) where the space station is filled with zombies, or aliens or something
Love this idea! it makes exploring space more rewarding and fun! And it would be cool if parts are broken (probably someone mentioned that before). So that you need to repair and empty it out before you can start using it. So all and all great idea!
I think this is how I think 'Drifting non-planetary structures' would be the most fun in the game: 1. The Structure (such as a Derelict Space station) appears on your scanner ONLY when you are in the Solar system: "A faint signal appears on your scanner. It seems like a large structure is located in this Solar system. However this signal won't probably remain active very long." 2. The structure may disappear if you leave the Solar system and come back. Not always though. That should be random. 3. The structure difficulty level can be higher or lower than the average solar system difficulty level, but only by a certain percentage. Ex.: Solar system difficulty Level is 31-40, structure Difficulty level can be anywhere between 21 and 52 (plus or minus 30%) 4. Rare items and special blueprints could be found in the structure, as well as possible NPCs. 5. You can escape the Structure by leaving from where you came from, but you can't go back to it later.
We need this but where do you find the stations? In space? on land? if it is in space how do you get to it? If it is on land what happens to the area near it when it blows up? Well besides that this is a good idea im out!
Mmm maybe having a space station 13 reference in it too! The one that the Goon servers currently use seems to be the best station in my opinion. Just blown in half.... Now I wanna play space station 13.... great.
