Yeah, what if there were dungeons for it, and they were generated as different kinds of ships, y'know like maybe a Hylotl cargo transport ship, or maybe even an unknown alien race's capital ship, each one kind having different monsters/loot/tech for you to find and fight?
I like the idea someone brought up about the space station changing coordinates as if it were drifting in space.
I always hate when games continue to pump out newer and better gear, and that rewards shouldnt be limited to armor and weapons and enhancements to the actual character but instead be novelty or unique items that can 1 show your dedication and patient to get the item, and 2 have a niche role in fitting in with your play style, so when it comes to endgame space station "dungeons" I feel a good reward would be like unique pets or collectible furniture are some items for a mini-game, but not necessarily armor as a reward... after reading this I feel like I worded this like a douche, Im sorry but I really like your idea of making these like hardcore dungeons or with good loot ^.^ I can see them being random difficulty with some REALLY hard ones and so it would be a gamble to go in or not.
stations could have some presedurally generated mobs that can cycle randomly... like one spacestation could have a zombie type mob set and have like a boss which would be like the zombie captain, and maybe have weird insects or zombified creatures on the station, another station could be overrun with marauders and pirates and the goal is to free the captive crew... then you may be able to get some loot from the crew and or they could settle on a planet nearby, or you could have a ship that was abandoned by a hostile race of aliens, a enemy you may encounter a lot during your travels, and the ship might not be as "abandoned" as you thought... Overall each ship could be like a story dungeon, once its complete, depending on its theme, it is done. Each type of abandon space station could have a certain goal like to escape, save the crew, plunder the treasure, find a vaccine, or repair the ship.
I think the idea of abandoned space stations that you could explore filled with monsters would be an awesome concept. Just a Random event that happens while you are traveling in space from with a percentage of occurance (Or random spaceship to add variety). Then treat the generation like a world generate (obviously much smaller scale). Then BOOYA new quests + new alien information or history or a story of what happened I mean something exploration cool where you are like "WOW that happened here!?" Kind of gives you a feeling of life inside the game that you are living it with your character. Maybe a part of an expansion pack dlc idea? idk. I agree though it'd be awesome. IF I had c++ skills and some animation pro I'd totally pitch in for your cause! I'm a Mortgage Guy... Not really alot of contributing use other than marketing to all my friends and family of how beautiful all of the people at Chucklefish are.
That would be amazing!! It would be even better for some to be randomly empty, others to be *nearly* all deserted, and others to be completely infected, so you never know what you'll run into, so there's always that tension.
I don’t know who you are. I don’t know what you want. If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don’t have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. I will find you, and I will thank you for making this suggestion.
I love this idea.... I love this idea so much.... OH to add on TOP of it! IF it LOOKED abandoned and then there was a trigger event that once you explored and were leaving THINGS CAME THINGS CAME AND THINGS CAME!!!!! Metriod SNES style.... Doom is upon the curiousity.... how many lives do you have bc I really think my cat can beat your soul with 9 lives left.
I would actually prefer some derelict ships to be completely uninhabited... but what would really strike my fancy would be ancient robotic systems/enemies, if you know what I mean. That sort of thing strikes a sort of vibe I've only ever seen in one game, and that is KOTOR, one of my all-time favorite adventures. Though in the end, variety is awesome, so all of the above might be the best choice of the matter! I don't actually know. It's 43 AM and I didn't actually look through this topic and what people have already said. Will check back later.
