Aaaaand Now My Ship is Useless...

Yeah this is what we where talking with some friends,griefing and stealing..there is 0 protection,I wish they add some kind of modification rights for people you trust so they can edit your ship if you want them to,not some random guy making that ,also that goes for the safe and chests,my solution to this would be not so much of a solution but to tell you to delete your saved ship data in \Steam\steamapps\common\Starbound\player shipworld and it will be reset(you will loose the items inside your ship) but at least you can go on with your character

 

And that's why I play alone.

 

I was considering doing something like this earlier when I was wondering if there was a way to absolutely ruin someone's character from multiplayer since ships transfer from multiplayer to singleplayer.
I wanted to test it out but I didn't get the chance.

Your character is going to wipe eventually anyway, it isn't like you've lost a lot.

 

Perhaps they should make an area around the pad that can't be built on. Or make the "hitbox" of the pad larger somehow.

 

I might have a solution for this. In the save folder you can see that ships are saved separately from players. Create a new character and take their ship data file, rename it to the same string of gibberish that pertains to the character you're using.

This should transfer the ownership of the new characters ship to your first character.

 

Noo, I have a danger sign and a planet monitoring tv screen thingy in my jump room. They can just make an option so that other players (or non friends if they implement a friend system) cannot build in your ship.

Minecraft handled this pretty elegantly as well, but giving build permission options. No need to use a sledgehammer to crack a walnut.

But what happens when you accidentally drop a spike trap or buzzsaw on the the pad and it kills you?

Better to idiot-proof it instead.

 

You already can't build on the actual drop pad, so doing that would be impossible.

Well you can put dirt down, but you can't place beds or sawblade traps or anything like that.

Seeing this i'm voting for the owner of the ship to be the only one with building rights on that ship.

 

I think it should be an option at a console in the ship or something, I don't mind people building on my ship if they're not dbags.

It's a great idea if you have them on you.

 

Stuff like personal protection in your ship and other anti griefer tools are coming. I remember tiy or some other dev confirming this on irc ages ago. The betas been out for a few days, patience my friends!

Why not just make the player invulnerable for an amount of time after spawning? Or invulnerable when spawning in contact with dangerous blocks until you get out of them. Would be fairly idiot-proof, since you can just remove whatever you dropped there
