A Way To Recover Old Characters

oh. adding tech really adds new lines to your charakter.
my old one got like 5 extra lines (4 things unlocked) and my new charakter with only dash unlocked got 2 extra line

so there is either a lin that tells your game that you HAVE things unlocked or the dash simply takes up 2 lines. i think its the later one

also can you look at my earlyer edit please?

 

You have to be the one running the server.

 

No, they wouldent, we could keep out characters, its just the devs FORCE us to restart, simply because the old characters will be buggy or have broken things, so, they instead of doing anything, just make us restart

yeah i know. but like i said you have a different position on the server and on your own ship.
whats also strange is that you ahve to unlock every starmap upgrade independand to your singleplayer save.
i really have no idea how you managed to change anything in single player via a server

 

Hmm, come to think of it, it may not have been server specific, I had only gathered that from the context of the file. But I tested it in my running server and then singeplayer and it worked.

 

im starting to think that it has to do with the techupgrades itself. my charakter CAN click on the sectorX but there isnt a sector X anymore thus the game crashes.
however i also found out that your free to delete your ship file since the game will create a new one once your charakter is loaded on a server/singleplayer

 

Yeah, you can freely screw up your ship data all you want and just delete it. Look into .client files.

 

yeah got it to work thanks. i looked into those files before but it made litteraly NO sence at all why it just started to work now lol.
oh wait... it isnt saying "serveruniverse" its just... oh............ well thats dumb.

only thing you have to do is to delete your universe? 4real? xD

 

Just remember that any bugs you get while doing this are basically personal to you and won't necessarily be fixed in the general beta system because they wouldn't exist in the general beta system. Use at your own risk!

 

For some reason mine doesn't work, which kinda sucks because I don't have much time during the week to play, so starting from scratch was a big let down for me. Still think the game is awesome though.

 

Looks like today's update broke this. Darn.

 

How so? My character is still working.

 

I tried it multiple times. Nothing. Then, I tried making a new character and overriding it with the old files. Still didn't work.

 

Could work for previously "updated" characters, but doesn't seam to work for "updating" older characters to the game now.

 

Hmm, well it's for the best I believe, we weren't suppose to be able to anyway.

 

This method WOULD be useful, however, for transferring items from old players to new; so one doesn't lose /everything/ with a reset.

 

This doesn't seem to be working for me. The game crashes whenever I try to enter character select. I think another update may have derped this method up.

 

Is it a way to recover his ship and his home planet ?

 

Better to have us restart so we can test the new content they add than give in to the whining and take time off from, say, developing the game to coddle players who didn't read the big red warning messages saying there would be wipes.
