Oh, well I stand corrected then. I couldn't seem to find anything past the steel hunting bow when I looked :/ and steel was horrible for me at the best of times. Haha.

 

If you find a non-poison, non-flaming crossbow as a drop from glitch castle guards, it has the same functionality as a hunting bow.
Too bad I don't need it.

 

Yeah, several months ago, they released a patch that allowed melee weapons to also drop meat, albeit on a lower chance rate
