Now that we can no longer use wood as fuel, I realized that wood serves very little purpose past the early game. Coal seems to be highly valued and used through mid-game, and collecting it in the required amounts can be tedious. So I suggest we be allowed to burn down some amount of wood into 1 unit of coal. Maybe 5 wood per 1 coal. Implement this feature and kill 2 birds with one stone.
I agree with this, as it was a lifesaver when Minecraft added the same thing. I would offer though that it could only be done to unrefined wood, not planks and the like.

Why? This mod touches none of the games core files. And after every update, it removes all the mods automatically. You can just wait for a mod to update if you don't want to risk it. Have tested my mod extensively, and have not lost anything while using it. Plus, you get the ability to use wood as a source of fuel again. Win, win.
Preference, really. I don't like the idea of modding an ever-changing game. I'm sure it's a fine mod, but it's not for me.
