A request.

Coming from hundreds of hours on Terraria, I just want to send a request to the devs. Please keep as much of a mature tone to this game as possible, with the addition of the starter pets, it starts to worry me that this will lead to more fluff/vanity than actual substance.

I loved Terraria for it's pretty unforgiving gameplay in a lot of areas. I'm not a fan of Maple Story for those reasons above, let's keep a nice mixture if we can please!

 

I've got to say, your display picture is perfect to show your want for mature content. As someone who enjoyed Dark Souls I too do not want to see Starbound be too cuddly. Also the odd mature themed sidequest would be quite fun.

I agree we need a mix of more easy going content and mature content, which can also be easy going to be fair, would be ebst for the game and make everyone happy. perhaps the mature themes could be suggested at and left to your imagination so the game stays friendly for children.

 

Yes, loved dark souls myself. Big fan of Witcher obviously lol. Ultimately, it's about the gameplay. Which seems to be amazing, I'm sure they'll knock it out of the park from what I've seen. I love my retro 8 bit graphics as well!

 

Agreed. I am a masive fan of RPGs yet I have never played the witcher, it's on my to play list. Also I recomend you check out Baldur's Gate Enchanced Edition, it's pretty fun!

Yeah if they keep the gameplay good and have it easy to learn hard to master, much like Dark Souls, then I think it will keep us entertained and I hope melee and range fighting are equally as enjoyable without one being obviously the better option.

Yeah, played BGE. A fan of those originally. Can't wait for the upcoming Planescape torment game.

 

Let's not make it too mature. I happen to know there is at least two kids in my neighborhood who want to play this game. We don't want their parents not getting it for them just because the game becomes too mature for them. There will always be Mods that add more mature content anyway *cough*penisesandboobs*cough* And also Mods that will remove some of the less mature content

 

That's what I'm hoping for. A good mixture, my fiance watches Glee and I prefer not to play it lol.

 

Yes, I believe as i stated before if we had matured themes they should be hinted at and leave the mind to fill in the details, it is much more effective if a woman you find in a cave tells you the people in the local village did horrible things to her than her telling you exactly what they did to her.

 

When I think of this game being more mature, I think of how rare did Jet Force Gemini. When I play it now, they show the tribals being really sad and crying which makes you think about the horrible things the Ant Aliens have done. Of course, the blood was green or whatever but when you shoot enemies or accidentally shoot tribals, they explode. I don't necessarily need things like curse words or crazy amounts of gore in the game, but the addition to some darker storylines wouldn't be uncommon in a world where your world was destroyed. As long as it isnt overly mature, I'm good with it.

 

Terraria was mature? I don't remember that at all, I thought it was pretty goofy myself, though it would be nice if Starbound had a balance of both.

 

Yes. I would love for Starbound to be mature like Terraria! With all those unicorns! And Faeries!

Faeries will seriously mess you up man, do not underestamate them. Actual Faeries from folklore are not so nice as the tiny ones.

 

I think that this should be in the game, as it would have a dark atmosphere, without being too creepy/gross/scary for the younger audience. I think that Chucklefish will do a great job making this game fun for people of all kinds of ages!
