What if there's a main base? Not "your" main base, but an universal main base, wich can be a planet, or space station, mainly composed of urban area, overpopulated, with markets selling beggining stuff, maybe cash items... This base would run on a dev's server 24/7, and theyr characters would live there, so you can talk to an online dev as a player ingame by going there Also, the base would be ungriefable, and there maybe some trade system, so it can be used as a market place. And there would be a "battle arena" in this planet, for pvp or monster fighting! I think this idea could add to the game a place with a mmo-ish feel and more interaction between players, other than sharing your planet's coordinate. What do you think? Edit: yeah, maybe with more than 1 server, crashes can be avoided... and i think, the same way MMO's have anti-hacking systems, there maybe a checking, and you can only enter the main planet with a vanilla character. This way there'll be no problems with hacked items and messed economy
So you mean... a "main" "market" server? If so... I think it's kinda a bad idea. Because of the server. If you're saying a base, with alot of AI markets, then yeah, in that case it would be awesome ! [EDIT] I meant singlepayer, it would be cool. The issue with multiplayer and the fact that there's only 1 server... it would crash. If you put several, then the idea with servers would be just perfect!
I think having a central market and a place to talk to the devs rolled into one is a great idea! As long as people don't start to strip mine planets just for pixels to spend here....
Great idea, but really, one server would crash, a lot. So, various servers, one of each region, that perhaps could work. Also, various markets, considering that each player server can have mods and stuff that the vanilla will not have, and so economy would break very easily because of it, and by consequence, the game progression.
