A little less FTL when moving between satellites around an individual planet and when moving between planets in a system. In these two situations, the FTL animation is... excessive ;-) The first time I FTL jumped, the animation as awesome... But I roll my eyes when that same epic FTL jump happens when I use one fuel to scoot over to the next moon. I would suggest the background roll and maybe just stars flying by and than rolling to the planet. It would create the desired effect for inner-system movement. Thanks!
Yeah, maybe see some space junk fly past or something like that. To keep it not so average and something a little more "random".
Yes, the FTL sequence is actually a loading scene, giving time for the planet to be generated, but the OP is not suggesting that it be taken out. He is suggesting it be replaced with a less "epic" and "majestic" sequence that fills the same purpose but doesn't have the same graphics. And it's a good point. A sequence where the ship moves around on "impulse engines" instead of "warp speed" would be very much appreciated when travelling within the same planetary system.
It's an awesome loading screen where you can play the game in your ship while you wait so the time it takes to travel won't change. However, having two different animations for traveling between moons and within a solar system would be nice.
