If you cant understand your own post and the fact that i disagree with it, then i think you need glasses.

Buck up, friendo, we're all on the level here. No reason to be all pugilistic about it.

Well, I already have glasses, though they do feel a bit crooked at times. But the real problem is that I don't quite understand this:

Since i didn't want to re-type what you wrote, i appointed to your quote instead

Maybe it's because English is my second language, but what does "I appointed to your quote instead" mean? Do you mean you wish to refer to my quote about the blue tint thing? If so, what do you wish to point out?

Can you get those images back and tone the filter down a bit to see what'd it'd look like in game? I think those look sick, and would be really cool if they faded in to that level and then back down every now and again. Would add a bit of movement to the game if that happened.

I can pass over them again. And aim for more realistic levels of filtering. No one would really see how good they look without true video filtering though.

I'll get them up this weekend. Times been getting away from me lately.

Holy shit. That is amazing. Really, that should definitely be in the game, it makes it look so much better, as well as adding an insane amount of variety to environments. The pictures actually look cold, or hot and bright. They make you feel like you're on the world, rather than just looking at it.

I disapprove of this. Personally i hate when anything has filters applied to it.
I prefer seeing things as-is, though that's my opinion. The filters you showed in your pictures are way too "solid", and change gameplay a lot in an annoying way.
Mass Eff was focused on the role-playing and storyline aspect of the game, while SB has more to it than just an awesome storyline, it's also a sandbox game, with many possibilities. I don't want playing the game to feel as i'm in a movie.
There's so much content and detail already in the game, like celestial bodies in the sky, biomes in the background, lighting, and a poopton of objects. I want to see all these magnificent things, instead of having my view blocked.

I don't really see how the most recent pictures block your view, they add a subtle blur around the edges, but generally in a videogame you're focused on the middle of your screen where your character is, what they add is more dynamic and couldn't be added just by putting more planets in the background or more objects.

Fair enough, we all have our opinions. Starbound, is, a "Survival" "Sandbox" genre. Possibly even a "Terraria-like" since that seems to be a new genre these days. Assuming they go with a survival or creative gameplay mode choice, like Minecraft had, and I choose to go with survival and play the storyline. Like most will. They are already HEAVY survival aspects planned/confirmed/in-game, right? Like food meters, thermometers, needing to stay warm, and get out of the elements, all there. Tiy's even mentioned possibly being affected by being caught in the rain, or cold, or hungry, using debuffs. Why TELL the player about the world around them, let them SEE it. I understand you reasons completely, but you actually see more of the things you wanted to see, if you didn't HAVE to have a food indicator in screen, a temp indicator on screen. But even after saying all this, it should all be optional. And even dispute the usefulness, it makes the game look great. Those images can even be used as backgrounds now! Why before... ehh. And the effects would only outdoors. Go inside or in a cave and they fade away. To let you know you're no longer exposed. This is all dynamically, you put a shielded visor on your character? Snow-blind, sun-glare, goes away. Radiation suit? Filter goes away. Parka? Blue tint fades...

So using filters as status indicators? That will give you information about certain debuffs that you have on you? that sounds pretty cool. Though I might like having these on all the time, but I don't want to have to take a debuff to do so. Also, i'd expect them to also be a UI element (Preferably one that's togglable) so that I can gain information about what the debuff is doing, and whether it stacks (Like radiation sickness should.) But once I understand the debuff, I would want to turn it off, because I like a minimalist UI.

Overall, i do like the way it would make the game cool and give you that specific "feel", nothing against that, i do like this.
It's just that when someone wants to focus on his actions, gameplay, he might get annoyed by it.
So i thought of two systems to make such a feature as acceptable as possible:
    • Just make it toggleable. As Pseudoboss said, i also like to minimize the effect on my HUD.
    • Or, have a system that will make these filters more transparent/less visible the longer you are in the area with this effect.(Pretty much "getting used" to it)

Great ideas. I like how the community really comes together to make an idea work. Now if only the Dev team noticed this thread...
