Yeah the rain falls so that it splashes on the ground, but i'm sure it wouldn't be much work to just add in a new layer though, and there's nothing to say that they don't have such a thing for some weather effects already I guess. I'm pretty sure there's been lightning in the background hasn't there? So weather must at least go over more than one layer already.

I do still think that the majority of planets shouldn't have any filters though. Used now and again they could be extremely effective, especially if they come in and out of play, for example sunrise and sunset could add a nice filter to accentuate it. Used too much they kind of lose their charm though. I think only a few special planet types should have permanent filters. Things like fog, as you mentioned, are excellent for filters, and could also have planets that are stuck as a permanent weather type with respective filter, although I expect that's probably already in the game anyway.

The issue I see, which I haven't accounted for is, what if the planet has level 100 radiation, level 100 cold, and constant level 100 dust storms, is the farthest away from its sun. Although its completely possible, and probably extremely rare, you wouldn't be able to know what's what with some many filters. Of course any sane person would immediately build a base on it and make it their home world.

I wonder if something like this can be modded in post release.

I like the concepts. The original film grain Mass Effect style but heavier was what came to mind for a highly irradiated world close to its sun. I do think they need to be customizable in-game by the player or optional entirely. These really run the risk of being overbearing and distracting. Your rendition of an irradiated world is what I mean by this, even if the effects you used were extreme for demonstration purposes.

    Overall, though, +1.

Hm...they have to add some background properties for this to be moddable. You might want to talk to them about that; if you can manage to convince them to show you how to mod in filters, it will be as easy as swapping in PNG files, and change a few codes (which they will hopefully tell you).

The option to turn them on and off. And set the transparency to your liking maybe.

I'm going to see if I can get one of the Devs to answer a few of my questions about this. Maybe shed some light on how possible it is.

And to be honest, I can totally accept those filters, only perhaps a bit duller so that it won't interfere with the screen so much. I thought the effects might be better if they are pixelated, but that's just my opinion.

A transparency slider in the options so you can choose how "involved" they are would be PERFECT.

Ironically, that's exactly what gave me the idea in the first place. And the image I had in my mind also.

Don't forget placing that breathing-through-a-mask sound you always hear underwater when you're on a moon since, in reality, the only noise you'd be hearing would come from the suit where there is oxygen. It'd be a bit awkward to jut hear breathing on a moon but that'd be the charm!

I'd rather not have the game sound like Darth Vader is making a lewd prank call the whole time I'm not on the ship. Thanks, though.

He was saying that my quote was constructive? I thin he needs to rephrase his replies a bit.
