A few Starbound questions.

BEFORE POSTING ANY REPLIES, PLEASE READ ALL OF THE BOLD TEXT THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRETY OF MY THREAD. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND THIS TO ANSWER MOST OF YOUR QUESTIONS AND TO INFORM YOU OF THE RULES AND CONCERNS OF MINE THAT YOU SHOULD FOLLOW.

Hello, everyone! This is my very first thread on the Chucklefish forums, and as you can probably imagine, I'm here to ask questions about Starbound, like most people are. Before I ask these questions, I'd like to address three things:

1. If I am somehow breaking any rules anywhere on this post, please address the problem to me so I may fix it/alter it. I wish for these problems to be reported to me in a nice way, and I am much less likely to change or fix anything if it is told to me in an aggressive manner than if it is told to me in a nicer fashion. This is crucial to me and to you, because my problem and your problem will not be fixed with too much aggressiveness.

2. I respect all administrators, moderators, contributors, developers, and people with more authority than me, and if anyone with these authorities gives me a command, I will obey that command, no matter how it interferes with me, my account or my experience with Starbound or any games associated with Chucklefish.

3. All of these questions were intended to be made simply to be responded to in a kind, courteous, respectful, non-threatening way, and any comments from regular users that interfere with this will be given the proper attention by me. This may include moderators or administrators taking action.

Thank you for understanding these addressed problems, and I wish for all of them to be taken equally into consideration.

Now, onto the questions.

My first problem that I have been noticing is that I always seem to get stuck on certain islands on certain planets because lava surrounds it, and if I attempt to evade or possibly survive the lava, I end up dead afterwards. This problem only occurs when I am in a planet which has a surface filled with magma. My question, however, is if there is some sort of nano suit, article of clothing, or item that allows my character to be immune to lava and its afterburn effects? This could be absolutely any item, whether it be a shield or a sword or a piece of armor. Absolutely ANYTHING is OK, as long as it allows a character to be immune to lava. If there is no item that does such a thing, please tell me if there are any nano suits, items, or pieces of armor that could make it easier to go across these large ponds of lava? My character race is "human", so take this into consideration when answering my questions, please.

My second question is one that I personally might have the answer to, but I would like clarification on just in case. The question is if the planets throughout the galaxy are different for certain people based on what computer they have? By this, I mean if, let's say, a Windows 7 or Windows 8 computer with Starbound installed would have a different galaxy than that of an Apple or MacBook computer would. I believe that the answer is yes based on several different forums, but I may be wrong, and I would like the opinion of a serious Starbound player or two before confirming one definitive answer.

My third and final question is a fairly simple one once you think about it for a bit, and my question is if certain items are exclusive to a certain race? This excludes craftable armor, because I already understand that armor varies from race to race, but my concern is if there are any other items that are exclusive to one race or multiple certain races OTHER THAN craftable armor. This would greatly help me on my adventure through Starbound success, and it would possibly get me interested in a different race, so this question is fairly large to me, and I would appreciate it if you answered this to the greatest detail possible.

Apologies for the "rather lengthy disclamer and post claim" being excessive. If it is a bother to you, I will be more than happy to edit it or remove it altogether. The main purpose of this is to get my point through, so there is no excuse for those who don't listen. Thankfully, and fortunately, you read the whole thing, and I'd like to thank you for that.

I'd also like to thank you for the answers. I will consider your strategy for question #1, because, let's face it, that's probably the easiest way to actually get across said ponds.

I'm also glad to see that I was partially right on question #2, although I didn't know that it basically depends on your operating system to determine whether your galaxy is different than someone else's. Thank you for this information.

It's unfortunate to see that question #3 is the way it is. I was anticipating that there would be something included in that answer, but it's always nice to know the truth.

Again, thank you for all of the answers, and if there is anything you would like me to consider changing throughout this thread, I would be more than happy to do so.

 

Welcome to the forums -- just to jump in to address your disclaimer

1. You are responsible for reading and following our rules & guidelines while posting in the forum. If you read them, understand them, and follow them -- there should be no need for anyone else to report or find issue with your posts.

2. We're not here to command you. Moderators are here to enforce the rules; "follow the rules" is the only request we make of the community. You're welcome to break them -- if you are willing to accept the consequences of doing so. I wouldn't specifically call it "authority" that anyone has over you.

3. You don't have to disclaimer your intent -- you just have to put it into practice. If you want to be respectful, simply post respectfully.

 

Thank you for taking time out of your possibly busy schedule to clarify the disclaimer I posted. It definitely helps.

For #1, I am basically only posting this in case I miss one or two tiny little rules that I may have misread or accidentally skipped over. After all, nobody's perfect!

For #2, I guess you could replace "command" with "request", and I personally call those powers that others have over me "authority" over me because the word "authority" is the only word I can really use for that that makes sense to me. It's sort of a personal preference that I call that power "authority".

Finally, for #3, that was solely posted for the intent of keeping flamers away. As you and many others know, flamers are EXTREMELY annoying and can sometimes ruin an entire thread or forum, and if there's one thing I don't want, it's some disrespectful flamer poisoning our community and/or my thread. It's kind of a repellent to annoying flamers or generally disrespectful people, and I hope it's been at least slightly effective.

Thank you again for informing me about some certain tidbits concerning my disclaimer. It always helps to hear advice from others.

(P.S. If there is anything that I have to or should edit about ANY part of this thread, I will be happy to do so.)

 

If you honestly thought simple words would stop such things, then I must welcome you to the internet. Those types of people don't care what you say.

In the future, just get straight to your point. Putting some disclaimer just increases what we have to read before actually getting to the point of the thread, which itself is borderline spam. The moderators around here are rather chill and can tell the difference between an honest mistake and an outright... poop hole... Hell, I probably should have been slapped with a warning once or twice already...

Anyhoo, just chill and all is well.

 

I understand the rather stubborn nature of flamers and how they usually don't listen to ANYTHING, but I just kinda posted that and sort of hoped that at least someone would understand. I'll try to make the disclaimer, if any, less of a long article and more of a "short but sweet" pointer next time I post a thread. Thank you for all of the help. As you probably know already, I'm very new to this site, so any pointers help!

I can now see the full extent of how friendly and helpful this community is. Finally, a community that isn't full of flamers and other unwanted nonsense. Thank you for being so informative of what the community is like. I will make sure to keep this in mind on my next thread.
