    Endless Infinity Void-Bound Voyager

NOTE - This is not a post complaining about the lack of End-game.I completely understand why there isn't. Early Beta.

NOTENOTE- THESE ARE MY PERSONAL OPINIONS.

I'm just going to Simplify this by listing them in Bullet-Like form.

    - Pixel Compression too expensive. 25%-30% Would be more reasonable.

    - Wood to Coal conversion too high. Maybe 7:1 ? (Reason. Coal sometimes too scare on Starter planets. People want to explore more without the expensive cost before Uranium tier)
^--- Perhaps Add a method of Buying fuel with Pixels. (Early game preferred, as late game fuel is no longer a concern.)

    - Too much ore on planet surface. (Reasoning. I never once had to dig deep after killing the Robot boss. All the ore I ever need was always on the surface on planets. Takes away from the "Mining/Spelunking" aspect.) (Fix: Simply Lower Surface ore Generation. Put Higher Tier ores Lower into the ground)
^--- As a result, End game Armors were TOO easy to acquire. (Every armor after Aegisalts.)*

    - Acquiring Over-leveled weapons still too easy. Partially due to everyone sharing Co-ordinates of Over-powered or Over-Scaled weapons for the current Sector. (Fix: Perhaps remove Higher Quality weapons from surface chests. Put them in Dungeon or Event Chests. Make them difficult to get.)

    - Make NPC's stronger. Seeing enemies/guards get one-shot by normal monsters really takes away the feel of NPC's Threat.

    - Give all Boss's strong block breaking abilities. Every boss can be killed by making an "Arena" for them where the player cannot be harmed. (Give Dragon a Smash ability. Increase Fires damage to Blocks) (Give robot a Strong Horizontal Block Break. Like a Drill? Also a Jumping down-smash.) (Jelly perhaps can attack with liquids? Attack through blocks with Short tentacles?)

    - NPC's don't react to you stealing. Biggest example is Avian Airship. They're always saying "Don't steal or else", yet you can do it right in front of them. I'm sure this is just a bug or feature not yet coded/implemented.*

-Make repairing tools require the Same Material as the tool is made out of. Also, decrease repair rate by a lot (Reasoning. Feels like I'm cheating when I repair my fully damaged Diamond Drill with 3 pieces of Copper Ore)

    - Give a limit to the amount of food you can buy from vendors. (Reason. As soon as you find a vendor, you buy 200 pieces of food for almost nothing and never have to worry about it again. Takes away from the "Survival" Feeling.
^--- Add fishing? More methods of acquiring food the better.

    - Remove the Insulation levels from High tier Armors. I believe Tier-Aegisalt and up all have High Insulation. (Reason. Gives me no need to craft Insulated Clothing from Fabric and Leather other than for cosmetics. Wearing Lower-Tier armor to stay warm increases the Threat of Arctic/Moon planets.

    - Add insulation to houses on Cold planets. Requires Walls, Back Walls, and a Heat source. Must be sealed. Heat level of house depends on number of heat sources and size of House.

    - Make the Blink-Tech Heavier on Energy Consumption. Add perhaps a set range. Maybe half of which it is. (Reason. All other techs are basically void after acquiring Blink.)

    - Add more ways to heal. (Reasoning. As a Tier 10, you have 500 HP. Bandages and Red Stims barely do anything.) Ideas : Increase healing factor of beds based on "Quality" of bed. Add more Craftable healing consumables.*

    - Multiple route for Armor Specs. Typical Warrior/Ranger types are the only ones that come to mind. Maybe gear armors toward different weapon types? (Shotgun, Pistols, Sniper, Assault) (2 Handed, 1H + Shield, Dual Wield.)
    ^--- Add more shield options.*

    * - Means I'm sure you already know, and it's just not yet been implemented.

    That's it for now.
Now, before people think," WOW, this list is long. You must think this game sucks." If I thought this game sucked, I would not have spent 94 Hours on it already, nor-would my Desk having Sticky notes all over it reminding me of things I should mention on the Forums. This is BETA. This is what they want.

I truly believe this game has to potential to be even BIGGER then Terraria. This game, and its Dev's, are AMAZING. I don't think I've ever admired a company like this since my Teenage years with Blizzard Entertainment.
I'll be doing EVERYTHING I can to make this game better.

I'll be updating this a lot as I read comments, reply to suggestions, and of course play the game more.
Please add your suggestions in the comments below and I'll add them if I agree with them.

Ideas from comments and Ideas I forgot to mention.

More Craftable Ranged weapons. Throwing Consumables, Crossbows, Slings. Some are already implemented into the game, yet they are not craftable, making them almost Rare finds.

Considering the lack of High-level Shields, many people stick to Ranged weapons. But the only way to find ranged weapons is a Rare-find in Chests, or randomly find a Merchant that sells them. (Which the only merchant that does is Avian Airships as far as I know.) Or simply looking up the co-ordinates of a planet that has one, which takes away from exploration and is more-like a Cheat-code system I feel.

This Idea was inspired by ___MeRliN___ .

I think so far I can agree with these opinions. these is admittedly alot that needs balancing for weapons and mobs but the Ore is relatively easy to get. Unfortunately there is alot of.......ranting currently that there is too much grind already in the Ore/Coal area. I can agree on making fuel a little easier earlier on so people can feel more encouraged to just explore. Except they haven't implemented most of the stuff for exploration. Personally though I find that getting ore is far from a chore and currently the fact that in tier 2 armor I am already doing the sweep the surface for all I need means that ore is a little too common. Also agree on the bosses. That is another hard point for alot of people that seem to believe the whole purpose of the game is to advance to the endgame cause it's all that is worthwhile. and the bosses just get in the way of that. Hopefully the devs see this thread though.

Completly agreeing to that, but I would add in addition that we could need more craftable ranged weapons, I mean you got a robotic workbench and a spaceship and you are not able to craft a carbon fibre bow or something similar.
There should be more bows after the steelbow, more "medival" weapons like a crossbow more primitive, makeshift weapons (slingshot, blowpipe, board with a needle in it) and in general craftable guns. Those weapons should be of course inferrior to the stuff you can get from dungeons.

That was a good read and it's nice to see that you have clearly put effort and reason into your thoughts.

Some of my favourite ideas that should be implemented are:

    - Making NPC's stronger and also to catch you stealing like you mentioned.
    - Bosses blasting through blocks

    - Armor tiers with MUCH harder requirements for the later gear (possibly special materials that only drop from bosses/mini-bosses)
    - Loot system with crappy loot from surface chests and better the deeper you go with harder monsters around them. No tech chests on the surface.

Things are going great in the early beta and i'm sure the devs are 5 steps ahead us in terms of implementing balances and ideas and features. Keep it up guys.

    Endless Infinity Void-Bound Voyager

Regarding the Rants about Ore/Coal - I can agree with Coal, as it seems to be scarce on some planets and Low-Threat planets. Also considering How much you need to Travel, and forgetting to calculate the Torches you need to go Spelunking. Hence my Idea for a Lower Conversion Rate. 5-7 Wood = 1 Coal. Exploration is very important in this game I think, and should more-so be encouraged.

But considering Ores, People think they need to buy complete sets of armor (Iron, Steel, Silver, Gold). You dont need to do this. Just craft smart. Make what you need to make, don't craft/grind EVERY armor set.

Regarding Bosses - I don't think the bosses themselves are in the way, but the amount of "Grinding" you need to do to "summon" them. The bosses themselves are very simple. (See my Note on Boss "Arenas")

    Thanks for replying !

Yeah, I was able to progress 2 tiers within 30 minutes because of how easy it was to aquire the best gear in that sector, The games pacing from 1-3 was kinda really well paced but then I pretty much skipped the next 2 tiers with left over materials.

  11. Endless Infinity

    Endless Infinity Void-Bound Voyager

I like that idea. I think they should really implement Hardened Monster Plating more into Armor crafting. Maybe make Rare-spawns Always/High chance of dropping something that is needed to craft Higher Tier armors. This would though send people to the forums looking for Co-ordinates of planets with Rare-spawns.

To fix this I'd really want there to be at LEAST 2 Rare-spawns PER planet. Maybe more underground? I'd really love to seen Champion monsters though. Even larger then Rares, and drop Unique items to their Name/Type. Ideally, they'd be near-impossible to fight alone, and would have a lot of adds. Almost like boss difficultly, but Random encounters rather than Boss Summons.

    Some Ideas

Champion Bull - Charging attacks, Breaks blocks as he charges forward. Beam attack. Long range.
Champion Wurm - Can burrow and erupt at will (Caused by enemy Range limits) Spits Rocks, blows fire. Uses Smash. Boulders tossed break blocks, as does his Erupts.

I could go on and on but its merely an Idea.

Agreed. I made a full suit of Aegisalt, then mined JUST for the Upgrade chips, making a piece of armor if I had spare Ores, but really didn't make the full set until Impervium.
Either they have a lot more armors AFTER Impervium (I'm sure they do), or they need to make it a LOT harder to get. (See my post above on ideas to increase armor Crafting difficulty)

    Milata Big Damn Hero

Yeah, I think they need to remove the whole steel thing where you get some ore and put some coal on it to get a new kind of bar.

  14. Endless Infinity

    Endless Infinity Void-Bound Voyager

Perhaps not completely Remove it. I mean, Refining an ore is an ACTUAL thing. Perhaps Reducing amount of Coal needed? I'll agree that more powerful sets of armor should just be "The old one, but this time with Coal!"
Especially 4 times in a Row. (Aegisalt and above), But I think refining ore should still be a feature.

Totally agree on armors and not having to craft all of them....I was managing on tier 3 planets with the snow infantry outfit . Sure something gives me a funny look and I asplode but that made it fun to dodge and fight. also meant that if I wanted to I could jump through tiers easier.....still wound up crafting all the sets but that's just cause I'm a touch OCD on completing certain things.

  16. Endless Infinity

    Endless Infinity Void-Bound Voyager

Agreed. I think it really gives Cold Planets a lot more Atmosphere (except moons, which lack it completely. /funnyjoke) when you have to take off your armor and put on Warm clothing.
Also, I went back and made all the sets of armors just in-case I decide to change my look.

Agree with most of what you said.

I'm not entirely sure I agree with this, because I felt that it was doing what it was supposed to be doing and making one think twice about jumping from planet to planet.

Yes! I remember being very surprised when I arrived in sector X and suddenly ore was abundant everywhere (even on biomes where scarcity is usually a problem). On one particular planet, I spent hours digging down and found almost nothing because all of the ore was spawning on top.

I didn't experience this until I went to level 7 planets. Up until this point I'd argue the opposite--I'd had a very difficult time finding anything that didn't make taking down monsters a pain. I think weapon balance as a whole needs to be tweaked, because it's difficult to pinpoint where the problem starts. I found some nice weapons in a chest at one point and ended up finding weapons that did only 70% of the damage for the next two sectors. When I tried to use the weapons I had been finding (30-60dps on Delta, while I had a 100dps weapon), normal monster battles were a bit harder but still alright, but boss fights of any kind were extremely unbalanced. Whether it was a random boss encounter (It took over 30 hits for me to kill one of those on Delta while the thing one shot me), or a major game boss like the dragon, the fights took so long I didn't want to try battling anymore. Upon reaching level 7 planets I finally started getting weapon upgrades by the bucketload, and many of them were boring and generic. Also, in the recent patch, it seems now some of the highest level stuff I was finding is practically worthless against monsters.

Yes, airship avians are practically immortal but I watched an entire normal village get wiped out by two birds yesterday. Two.

They're going to add this feature in one day, and it will be the one day I don't look at the patch notes, and I am going to get my butt handed to me by a hostile npc from an avian airship.

    CANNOT EMPHASIZE ENOUGH

Yes to fishing, no to food limits. What irritated me was the lack of variety in food. Meat find needs to be redone still because I haven't had to hunt or worry about food since Beta sector and I have barely been using my bow.

Cannot emphasize enough. Bandages heal very little and don't stack their healing effects, and if I run out and have to use a tent or a bed, it's pretty much "build a wall around yourself and go make dinner or something because that's how long it will take you to heal."

About the bandages, I think in the recent patch they took care of that already (partially), try the portable 3d printer, you can create nanofibre bandages with it which should heal more then normal ones

I'm glad you agree with a lot of it. I do agree that there is a need to really think about you're jumps, but on the same note, its a slight tweak to the amount needed to grind TO jump. Before you start finding Uranium and above, Grinding Coal/Wood is pretty timely for a 200 Fuel Jump (400 if you're considering a return Trip)

It wouldn't be a tragedy if it was kept the same, but I think a SLIGHT tweak would make it overall more enjoyable.

The Food limit is something that really bothered me though. I do agree that there needs to be a lot of different ways to acquire food, but I think the feel of just buying 200 pieces just makes worrying about hunger a thing of the past.

And yeah, Sleeping takes about 10 minutes (?) to heal from 1-500
