there needs to be a toggle in the options menu to remove the whole "lore" thing the inspect tool does, and just make it state what the block/entity/whatever it is you click on is in a very clear and flat way. only then will i consider the inspect tool useful in any capacity.

advance wars is one of the best franchises in the history of nintendo handhelds. just sayin.

 

Definitely some awesome suggestions here. I would like to see monsters like in Terraria that moved through blocks. Notably, the man-eaters in the jungle terrified me. In general, the jungle was a hellhole filled with man-eaters and flying wasps that fired projectiles, so I think it's a good example of how much more difficult deep underground should be. I only recently started going really deep and was disappointed that there are so few enemies.

 

terraria's whole "i shoot and/or move thru blocks" thing was seriously aggravating. i sincerely hope starbound stays away from that crap.

 

Although a serious reason for Starbound being way too ungodly easy is that at the slightest hint of trouble you can build a safety bubble in less than a second and then tunnel out without a scratch. There's no risk involved with anything at that point. The douchebags that spawn in some out of reach spot and fire at you through walls were dumb and annoying, but I now see why they were necessary.

 

if you think it's a cheese tactic, then don't use it. simple as that. don't ruin the game for others just because you have no self control.

 

I'm not going to argue this here. It's been done to death already, and derailing another thread won't help anyone. I'm just going to say that if limiting your ability to cheat ruins the game for you, then I honestly don't know what to tell you.

 

sandbox game. period.

 

Enemies shooting through walls is one thing, however, I am in the best armor I can make for a level 8 planet, and I'm still getting killed in two hits. Every enemy clocks for 200+ damage, even with me hitting 2-3 thousand. Takes two hits for them to kill me, but three for me to kill them. We would need to very heavily balance damage numbers and weapons before we even begin to worry about projectiles...


On the topic of Inspect tool, I greatly enjoy what the Floran says about the anvil. The Avians seem very matter-of-fact, down-to-earth in their explanations of objects you click on. Makes me believe that Avians are quite a bit more advanced than their dungeons let on.

 

What do you mean "Their dungeons"? They've got that "Iron Avian" faction with those massive high-tech pyramids that study the entire planet. Just because their burial sites are traditional doesn't mean they're all low-tech.

The Florans even stole their FTL engines and then got them to work in stolen Apex ships.

 

Those are not Avians. Their manner of speaking is broken, and robotic in nature. I would say tat they are more of a cousin of glitch, perhaps a different test made by the same people. I've seen Avian's Ferozium armor. It's the same colour, but it is NOT that style. in fact, Avian's Ferozium armor looks very fancy, massive headdress, large shoulder plates, and hot pants. You could say that they know you're against Kluex, but, then again, several Apex have shouted similar lines at me as I'm tearing through their facilities.

 

I'm only going by the crystals there and the existence of avian "Power Crystals", TBH. WE need some word from the devs about what are in there.

 

Avian power crystals are red in appearance. They range from small to very small. Avians primarily are stylized after Mayan, Incan, Aztec, and Ancient Egyptian cultures.
