Spear: Can be thrown like Javelins, or the head shoots off with a cable attached to it. Axe: Can be thrown, then it returns like a boomerang Hammer: Strikes the ground and unleashes a shockwave attack.
Fix Bayonets! Seriously though, guns with melee alternates would be great (gunblade?). And Muskets could be a cool low level gun. You could even game balance them by making the energy consumption quicker.
A spear with an alt-attack of launching its blade like a rocket! An Apex rapier with a defense-ignoring thrust attack with a backstep.
My small weapon suggestion: Scorpion style "get over here!" hookshot type thing. Some other updates: All farming now requires watered tilled soil to work. (You use the Hoe, then have to water before you can plant.) There is a new "Watering Can" item that waters tilled soil. (It currently has water gun visuals though) There is a new weather, Light Rain, that waters tilled soil. Normal Rain waters tilled soil as well. ^ This system now makes some planets much better to farm on, since it only rains on certain planets. (and some more than others) Being wet now slows you 10%. Related /spawnitem names: wateringcan / grassseeds The critters from yesterday were added. Just the snail, frog, and tiny bird. They only spawn in the Lush biome right now. (starter planets) Sandstorms now reduce your run speed by 50% and jump height by 50%. They have reduced the rate of stormy weather on most planets from 10% to 5% (sandstorms, snowstorms, etc.). There is a new 'frothing at the mouth' status effect. They have added to NPC emotes, and continued colony spawner work. They've continued working on NPC behaviors and interactiveness, including adding a "play" mode. They updated the art on some ancient items, like the vertical and horizontal doors. I was reminded recently that there are 10 personality "poses" at the character screen now, up from 6. (in the Nightly) There are a bunch of new "backer hats": Cool Shades Demon Horn Wig Dreadful Skull Giant Bow (as in, bow tie) Hot Top Hat Mug Hat The new hats, critters, and ancient door visuals should be added to the wiki within a day or 2. Here's a link to the related thread on reddit, where people have also posted their ideas. Yup, we have that in the Gnome Gun. It will be much more useful at all difficulty tiers next update, since your armor scales up a lot more than weapons do.

ill start with something SUPER important. make jumping less floaty! as for skills, here are a few: hammer having a baseball swing attach (maybe could be charged) that launches foes. think worms or ssb. a tornado slash, maybe if two daggers are equipped. load multiple arrows in to a bow for a spread shot. an axe attach that swings back and forth in an arc over your head. as for more weapons (with corresponding skills): castlevania style whip with the whole limp thing. on the same note a flail that is much looser than other weapons. hook shot like in zelda that replaces your location with the enemy. gravity/wind gun that pushes enemies away, distance dependent on the strength of the weapon. a shovel/digging tool that flings blocks at foes. instruments that do sonic damage. i'd love to see these come to life.
Combo. Instead of a single swing that we keep using, how about having the attacks chained up? Even just a 2 combo swings down and up is already awesome enough to break the monotony.
the down stroke of that jumping attack seems to happen too soon (maybe it's just me). I would make the attack happen when you are only just above the same level as you started at instead of as it looks now when you are at the peak of the arc.
A spin attack in starbound would be the coolest thing since baked potatos. Also what about a combo attack for if you are dual wielding? Like if you pick up a down slash knife and an up slash knife, whenever click it would be down and then up. That would be awesome.

I like. Should make it possible to make custom "tilled" matmods that are affected by other weathers too, or, better yet, make it so that matmods can be affected by any kind of weather.
I would like to see a flare gun. It could possibly consume some energy firing a flare, and then the flare could float slowly to the ground if fired upwards. It would be super helpful for lighting large caverns that lost explorers can some times fall into... ^^"
That sounds great! Hmm what would I like to see? Definitely some angry smash attack for a hammer-type weapon! And then how about... ...a fast flurry of slashes with two knifes or short swords? ...some laser or movement-guided rockets? ...laying mines with a rocket launcher as the alternate fire? ...rocket jumps? ...a constant laser/plasma beam that reflects from certain blocks (glass, metal) ? ...assault rifles with attached shotgun option? ...shotguns with attached flamethrowers for alt. fire? ...flare-launchers for pistols that just consume energy and no material? ...varying moves depending on the weapons special damage (a wide slash like the one shown in this blog post with particle FX especially for fire weapons, a fast "running leap" similar to the dash-tech for the star cleavers for example) ...a whirlwind-attack with big axes, hatchets and cleavers This has so much potential ! And I'd like to present another idea which probably was mentioned by other players before: A seed gun. No, not really for farmables but for vines and some other vegetation, loaded with bio samples. However, seeing that we can regrow grass soon this might be obsolete.
A Dash attack would be awesome! one where you lunge forward in a straight line and hit whatever is in your way!
