So, the magic is interpolation? Well, it's not so complicated as it can be. But, hey, great work! I'd love to see more... And more... And more technical things!
Ahhh numbers ! My favorite part of game design, and why I think Starbound is going to be a beautiful game.
Is there a polite way of saying "I don't give a fuck"? I don't want to sound too rude. EDIT: found it! This morning NASA sent a deep space probe to planet GiveAfuck. The data recovered from this probe confirmed my absence on this planet.
I know it'd be asking way too much, but I wish all of the updates were (at least) this long. Updates are great, but the why and how are much more interesting. So, thanks!
This was essentially the exact opposite of an "I'm smarter than you" kind of description. She just broke down the way that they are dealing with leveling of random monsters in a very easy to understand way. In any case, this seems like a great idea. I like that it allows for smooth transitions in difficulty from early to mid game, and yet still allows for sharp transitions of difficulty in the end game. This is super important as no one wants to spend their early game hacking away at something with 23987492834 health, but in late game you want a good reason to spend hours trying to get a weapon that does 2128238497234 damage. Throwing down some benchmarks for certain levels and then interpolating to get the full spectrum of leveling does seem like the simplest way to achieve this. Maybe not as elegant as the dungeon rooms generated from tiny image files (still the coolest thing I've heard), but definitely just as effective.
Hey I live in Orlando too! (if your in Orange County then welcome neighbor...) (if your in Avalon then your like 5 miles away from me)
Please ignore those users that keep on complaining about the beta, you are doing a great job and take all the time needed Anyway, what is that foreign squared language? Some sort of magical spell?
It's not scaling with player level, but planet level. FYI. What I mean, it's not scaling like it works in Oblivion/Skyrim. It's just scaling with difficulty of area.
Hopefully movement speed won't scale too heavily with levels. Unless you plan on throwing The Shrike at us for the endgame, that is.
Hmmm I guess this must be all balanced with the Planet level no? It's such a complex part of the game
Okay totally not kidding this was the best blog I have seen in a long time, because it really feels like I am not being treated like a child. Instead you show your customers and your community a look behind the vale as it were. They Kyran
