I'll bet all that time moving and traveling allowed you to clear your mind for a bit and think about some of these topics from another angle. It is good to take a break sometime while your mind is filled with other monotonous things. It can sometimes help you work out some things in the back of your mind. It helps with me anyway. Also, I liked the technical talk.
sounds all nice to me, and still think the game will be fun after 1-2 year it came out but honestly do we need a intro for the beta? or are they puting the man-power at the wrong place?
Adjusting parameters like that also means good news for us in the future : ) Should be smoother updates, easier balancing, better progression past initial release. I know you guys have a lot of work to do on it right now, but it should really pay off later!
thats all well and good and all but i didnt need to know values and what not thanks for completly wasting my time KYREN but yes nice work
thanks for the update, now i can sleep in piece having mah daily dose of starbound news keep up the great work!!
Honestly, I really prefer these kinds of updates. All the other ones make the game sound like it will be done really soon, but this one actually conveys a lot of what they're working on and what they have to do. Really puts everything in perspective.
I'm honestly getting a little burnt out on waiting. I'll be glad when beta comes out but.....I'm really wanting something more tangible at this point.
Excellent update, nice to hear some of the more specific things we are gonna see in game later on ^_^
Here's a quick graphical representation of the data! (Not necessarily accurate) Cubic spline interpolation FTW! Update: As you can see the line is smoothed out between the data points, creating a smooth curve rather than harsh corners / edges
veeery interesting. I myself use mathematical functions all the time when I want to make a levelling curve, but then again, I never needed functions for THAT much data, which can interact with other data and amplify or cancel each other out (speaking about balance). I can see where that might be a problem. The technical stuff is very interesting, as I said, it gives us a kind of look at what problems serious (well, maybe not always, but the word "professional" would certainly fit) programmers face, which is a rare opportunity. Thank you for this update.
So I just pictured Bartwe running around with a bed in his hands and smashing at bugs on the ground...
You lost me towards the end there, but I sure am glad you know how to do all that stuff! Starbound is going to be SO AWESOME!!
