One option would be to have the beds facing a different direction, like forwards...but that's a little farfetched =p. Leave it to the modders!

I prefer the auto-strip/pajama option, but it really does more sense to just make it manual and let the player choose what they want to sleep in, by equipping/unequipping whatever.

Either make the players do it manually OR add vanity slots specifically for what we wear to bed.
Automatically putting us in undies would be great the majority of the time, but it takes away the option of choice for not much return. That's my humble opinion, anyway.

I agree with this. People can remove their armour before bed. If you've not woken up in bed fully clothed after a good night's sleep then well, you're not old enough to drink and that's okay but give people choice. I like this idea because it gives us control, lets us make choices and also sounds like less effort for the developers. Add PJs into the game as an option and then people can choose to wear them when they get into bed, if you care enough about immersion that you want to strip or wear PJs then why would you object to doing it manually? I don't get it. The option to have to do it manually sounds like the best option for everyone. I mean it doesn't stop people wearing PJs and stripping does it? And it doesn't stop me sleeping in armour.

Plus who said armour will all be metal? It could be flexible carbon nanotube based, or a soft suit with energy sheilds or kinetic barriers, or reactive polymers that stiffen only under force and dissipate energy passively through their threads or maybe even just ablate or some combination thereof.

They should sleep stripped. Nobody sleeps in their armour. i don't think that you should too much choices in this particular thing.

Armor off! and let us make PJs and color them! those are the only clothes that you can wear while sleeping :)

I see a LOT of people saying the character's should be automatically stripped when using a bed. I'm just curious as to WHY so many people want the GAME to decide what our character does in ANY situation. Lots of people think it's ridiculous to have the character sleep in their armor. Perhaps it is. But what if that's what the player WANTS to do? Why take even simple game play decisions away from the player? Is it THAT hard to have pajamas or such stored next to the bed so you can manually change into them before going to sleep?

If the player is simply given the control to sleep in whatever they wish, there wouldn't need to be any special mechanics for "secure" or "unsecured" locations. If you're sleeping at a campsite in the middle of a potentially dangerous location, perhaps you WANT to sleep with your armor on. If you're on your ship and safe as can be, then take the armor off, MANUALLY, put on your fancy Superman pj's and go to bed that way! In your secluded Hylotl house? Strip down to the buff and hit the hay! Why not just let the player manually wear what they want when going to bed (or at ANY moment in the game for that matter?)

Basically I feel it would be much easier for the Devs to just make the player sleep in whatever they are wearing when they try to sleep! No conditional coding or anything at all. And then your character will stay yours to control rather than suddenly making some decision without player input. Even something so simple as what to wear to bed.

Granted this is probably one of the more trivial things being discussed but could have some interesting implications depending on how sleeping is actually implemented. If you're in a dangerous area, and go to sleep, can something interrupt your sleep and attack you in your campsite for example? In this case, waking up with armor on would be advantageous. On your ship, this wouldn't be a problem. Perhaps only those wanting more of a Role Play type gaming experience would truly complain about their character doing something automatically that they didn't choose.

So my official opinion is to let characters choose before going to sleep what they will be wearing. Armor or pjs or nothing. Don't make the game DECIDE FOR US what the character sleeps in.

    Thanks for hearing me out.

I think a pole would have been useful, but I vote for stripped. And double/king sized beds need to be a thing

Seriously? Let's not have the game making decisions for us because we're LAZY.

I think you should make it so that if you sleep in a bed by itself, you sleep in armor, but if you place a armor stand or something next to the bed, your armor gets put onto that while you sleep :)

How about an option to automatically change into pajamas (or maybe another outfit of the player's choice?), instead of forcing it onto all players?

Regarding armour vs stripped for while sleeping, I had an idea that perhaps you could craft a few different sets of pajamas for wearing while sleeping and you could "assign" a certain set you've made so that your character automatically puts that set on in place of its armour when going to bed.

I think it would be weird if I was to jump into bed and be spontaneously stripped of all my clothing, so I think we should be able to sleep in our armour for logic sake. But on that point, I also think it would be uncomfortable to sleep in my space armour, so maybe have some debuffs go along with sleeping in armour? I've seen pajamas mentioned a lot too, so perhaps have that if you sleep in pajamas, you gets some buffs. that sort of system sounds like it would be really neat because not alot of games put much focus into sleep mechanics, even if this is just a subtle difference.

"Would you prefer the player to be clothed or stripped of their armor when entering a bed?"

Since that is a personal preference, I think players should have an option to choose between them.
The question you should be asking is which should be default.
To me stripped makes more sense, but I would prefer armored.

A friend of mine I just talked to earlier today said that sleeping in armor isn't particularly uncomfortable. He used to work at the local Renaissance Fair every year, and would pass out after a long day of jousting and a long night of drinking ale. In the morning he would wake up feeling no different than he did any morning, hung over and sore as hell. Of course, he did do this on occasions when he hadn't been jousting/drinking to see if the D&D rules regarding sleeping in armor were realistic, and he said the only downside to sleeping in armor is that if it gets warm you can't take it off as easily.

The weight of the armor should be evenly distributed across your entire body, so it doesn't really impede movement or feel heavy while you are lying down. This is especially true for plate armor, since the plates are rigid and support their own weight. My buddy even said it was rather comfortable because the linen lining kept you warm while the mail and curves of the armor made you feel like you were always tucked-in.
