Oh, an underwater shop ! Can't wait to buy all their supplies for cheap and make their whole city trade economy crumble ! mwahahahaha. Just kidding, I'm not that smart Really nice environment, still .
They think it'll keep the pirates out. It won't. My lot may generally stick to raiding space transports, but I know of at LEAST two bands of "water marauders". And God help those poor city-folk if they attract the eye of Fishbeard. The upper class happens to be his favored target AND favorite food.
Why are there huge transport crates you'd find on a huge ship inside a tiny room at the bottom of the sea and how did they get there? Surely not through that door
I feel as though for every aspect of other similar games (terraria, minecraft, *insert favorite western action-adventure/RPG/metroid-vania*, etc) that gets the most complaints, starbound not only fixes, but goes above and beyond to eradicate any possibility of a complaint. In terraria/minecraft you often hear complaints that "under the sea" is a rather boring place (especially in terraria, where there is essentially nothing). Starbound doesn't respond by making its underwater environments a bit more of a well rounded biome, instead it makes its underwater areas into vast cityscapes and dungeons, and creates an entire race around the concept of sea life. I also can't wait to see how they implement their water physics into these sorts of areas. Accidentally opening the wrong door and getting swept away in a flood sounds amazing (doing it on purpose to sweep away your unsuspecting friend behind you sounds even better ). I also feel as though once this game has been out for a year or so it will be the new thing which games are measured against.
As I understand it, there will be 2 (3?) different dungeon types per race, so we may still see it! I really dig the Hyotl, and am excited to learn more about them when the game comes out.
OOOO! wait that looks familiar like ive seen it somewhere before...nah! that whole area looks great and being I will be playing a Hylotl I cant wait to see what the cities in the sea are like along with all the other cities, ooo so many choices!
Ya know, looking at the mockup and this picture (plus the anime I've been watching lately), anyone get the feeling that the Hylotl players were driven out of their planet by their version of the Yakuza? Anyway, good update as always. Keep up the good work Chucklefish.
That is quite the great mockup for the city. I like the transition from the classic japanese style to this futuristic style, and those plushies in the Arcade look adorable. I can't wait to see the other races and all their different tiers, you guys never cease to amuse me with your designs and ideas. :alien:
What happens if you flood the entire building? Do the NPCs immediately hate you? Oh, how fun Underwater Cities seem. Also, what is this?!
