The books you find in Starbound aren't essential to enjoying the game, but they do provide an interesting look at some of the characters, monsters and cultures you encounter! We'd love for people to enjoy reading them as much as we've enjoyed writing them, so we've been working on making the experience of reading them easier and prettier. We posted about making more unique book covers a little while back, but the codex UI itself still made reading and sorting through your library difficult. So we've fixed it! This is one of the more visual changes we've made this week, but we've been doing loads. We've completed another week of playtesting, fixing lots of bugs and making lots of quality-of-life fixes along the way. It's been fun, but more importantly it feels like we're making a lot of tangible progress each day. 'Til next week!

Don't the Novakids have any books, or are they just lumped under the ? Hmm, could have an icon of one of them with a ? brand heh.
plz hide some secrets in the lores for us to find maybe something like hidden coordinations or something
1.0 is getting closer within reach each and every day... Also please explain why you added those... things... to the moons in the nightly version? Or what the hell they even are?
Yeah, you could totally have some specially designed planets, teeming with special stuff like references, cities, special tech and creatures etc that you can find the coordinates for in the codexes
I'd kill for this. For example, a tome that's about 40 pages, and clicking all the way through each page to get to 40 would unlock a mission with some unique treasure, or something. This sort of thing would make exploring much more fun.
The books still show up as perfectly generic items, I am going to test this version when I get time. I haven't tested the latest update. And NPCs aggro at me randomly
Pretty sure they fixed the random aggro from npcs a couple days ago, it seemed to go away for me anyway
I am using an outdated version(27th May) Thanks, I can't wait. Ant the only tech available to me are the distortion sphere, energy dash and pulse jump.
Maybe it will become more easier to know which books we are missing now. Before I collected all of the books in a chest never reading them just so I know which I had gotten so far.
So do we have an actual release date at this point? Or at the very least an estimate? My friends are too afraid to touch the game in Nightly, (and I don't blame them) and I feel like with the sheer amount of content you've already added to the game as is you guys are more than ready for the 1.0 release, save for maybe a couple days of bugfixing...
Don't bother. CF are holding back all but two books, actively. As in, the files aren't included. At all.
