This is game changing. It might even make me change my getup, though i'd have to see which color of the hi vis jacket actually changes...
So will this only be on the racial armors, or could this also affect some (but not all) vanity armor? Certain sets would look really cool with some other colors like the glow suit for instance.
It will probably work for every skin that uses modular colors or whatever they are called. I don't think the glowsuit has that though
Now that you're making a push toward cosmetic convenience, are there any plans going forward for masking on armor pieces? I know you already have a system in place that occludes hair for helmets, but there's still nothing for masking the body sprite. As a (not terribly active) modder, the biggest and most obnoxious hurdle for me has always been spriting armor, specifically having to shoehorn designs in unnatural ways to fit over the stock playermodel, and taking extra pains to ensure that no part of the player is peeking out from underneath. This has been an active deterrent to working on my race mod for the longest time, as they have an unusual shape (made of rocks/gems) and it's such a tedious headache that I always end up quitting again whenever I'm faced with another tier of armor. I know it seems like a pretty small detail in the grand scheme of things, but it would open up a lot of options for flexibility and visual variety for modders like me, and I do hope you'll consider it.
Oh hey, it just dawned on meas I was fixing up my mod to reflect dyed armor; Can this be applied to furniture as well? Many furniture items have multiple colors already set in their images, and it'd be amazing if we could apply the dye to furniture as well.
well poop.. i just lost a bet you got dyeables in game before the 2nd anniversary .. why couldnt you have waited 1 more week
Yyyyyeah, some dev clarification on this point would be nice. Mind you, I doubt I'd be changing my main's outfit much anyway. Purple is just so... her. The other characters I make to go through newer builds tho... and maybe those extra Vanity Armors I keep on the ship to dress for certain environments... The Cave outfits make a fine swimsuit for exploring Ocean worlds, but brown is such an unfitting color...
White a minute!? Is this blue? I mean true?! After Reding that post, I can finally dye in peace! This update blue my mind! I'll orange a schedule for this game during my break! Please don't give this post a violet reaction .
It should indeed work for all armor, provided it is formatted similar to the "basic" outfits you start with. By that I mean this: This is the human "cool shirt" and "cool pants" icons in the assets. Notice the colors; they aren't what show up in the game. That's because the colors denoted in the assets are replaceable, and that's how you can change the color of the starter shirts and stuff in the main menu without having a ton of different items for each color. The dye mod used this system as well, so it should indeed work for all items previously dyeable with that mod!
