Um. We usually get the daily updates at around 10:00, it's perfectly normal for there to be no daily update at this time.
I quite often read the posts on these forums and it still amazes me how polite people are on this forum. I have invested in a few kickstarter projects for indie development and the forums are (unfortunately) more often than not a flame-fest at the developers. So while congratulations are certainly due to Chucklefish for a stellar product soon to be released, I think everyone in here should also give themselves a pat on the back for not allowing this forum to degrade like so many others. Well done guys and girls!
You win all the internets! The prison was heavily influenced by the one in Alien 3. I'll let you figure out what that implies about the setting and atmosphere of the dungeon.
I think you missed the point of the post there, Blue. I believe what he was suggesting wasn't that the Starbound team was off assisting other groups in the development of their games, but rather that Starbound was announced long before many of those games, and some of them have been released or have released betas already. The primary worry in the post, from what I gather, is feature creep - the worry that the developers latch onto these weekend ideas, develop something, then spend part of the week bugfixing it when there are more pressing, core gameplay elements that need to be finished in order to release a beta. To summarize: These other games have gone into development and some of them have been released, with tiny teams, in the time it's taken Starbound to get to an almost-beta state. What has caused this to occur? Personally - I know how mind-numbing coding and working on algorithms can be. The team appears to be working seven days a week on the game and that's amazing dedication. I do worry a little about feature creep, and a lot of the progress that was made over the course of the summer, I found myself wondering "Why wasn't this done a year earlier, when we were lead to believe the game was coming along so quickly?" Ultimately, the game is going to come out when it does, and nobody wants a buggy, rushed product, but things like the ability to play music in the game - that wasn't pertaining to the core values of the game (from my perspective, from what I gathered back when it was originally announced) and they spent some regular work hours (Not just weekend hours) working to fix some of the features and bugs that fell in with that. Sure, it's a neat feature, but that time could have been used to work on something more pressing to getting a beta into our hands to start catching more bugs for them. I don't wish to sound unappreciative or adversarial at all in this post - just trying to convey what appeared to be the original meaning from the original poster, as well as voice a few similar opinions. I can't wait to finally get my hands on this game in the end, and don't mind waiting - I check back religiously to watch the progress on a daily basis and still hope that one day I'll receive an email back about my offer to help with quest text/design, but ultimately, I'm going to sit here and survive until the day that beta becomes active. I support the development team and the crazy sums of work they go through to get this game done, I just hope it doesn't keep getting pushed back and back and back until it's forgotten about. A lot of us paid for a product that we haven't yet received - there are people who will start to get annoyed when we don't see anything for our money after a year or two.
honestly they should do beta once all the tier 2 stuff is done once they can add more stuff later i just want to play.
Ah, I should have noticed that. I can guess very well what will be involved. I wonder if there will be lava or something... We should go back to the Sulaco and nuke the site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.
I need to buy new screen every day and my arms are getting tired to throw money to the screen... Cant wait need beta... urgh...
Oh, maaaaaan and I was getting short. Four more weeks and out, now I'm going to die on this rock. This ain't fair man.
