Ugh. I don't get it. Are you saying we should like every single thing CF does without question? A lot of us don't like the horse AI. Even if it supposedly isn't based off a meme, does that immediately mean we should like it now? If you have nothing to contribute to this debate from "lol don't disagree with chucklefish", then perhaps you should just go somewhere else to start a flamewar. The only thing worse than Hatters is Mad Hatters. Those guys are crazy. Anyway, if people do not like the Horse AI, then they should feel free to express that. If they could also express why they don't like it, the devs can decide if this is really the direction they want to go in or if they feel that a change is in order ("surprise! we were just kidding"). I don't think there is a good/effective way to know if the "majority of the community" feels one way or another, as polls with less than 5000 votes probably don't represent enough of the population to justify action being taken, instead, just focus on the one person you CAN speak for: yourself. If you don't like something, you don't need hundreds of people agreeing with you. Your voice is important enough to stand on its own, so just speak up and let others weigh in with their own opinions. Don't worry about what everyone else is thinking. My own thoughts: Horsehead is funny right now, but I think it would get old for me after awhile. Hopefully the glitch have a default "safe" AI, that once in awhile "glitches out" and shows the equine MammoryLeak AI, because it would cause some really funny reactions from players that weren't expecting it. Or, have it be an "unlocked" option, if it becomes possible to unlock new AI portraits/personalities from in-game items (like techs). That would probably be the most widely-accepted (although boring and safe) route.

my opinion is that if it's meant to be referring to the steed of a knight why isn't it a just a robot horse like glitch knight actually ride? I don't think this horse woman is anywhere near that concept. Otherwise I find it will get annoying quick despite whatever unknown reason they say they have.

Glad all these misunderstandings were cleared up. Hopefully we all can continue having a civil discussion now. ^^ Like others have said, the best route for CF to take would be allowing people to customize their AI's, that way people who want the current AI can keep it, and others can change it to something that more suits their tastes. And as I said before, if they are adamant on keeping a horse with no options, making it mechanical, and making it less human-like and derpy would be nice. Or who knows, maybe Omni does in fact have some twist in store.
All avatars looks awesome. All, but not this... centaurus? Even if it's based on lore, even if somebody say it's connected to medieval and knights (but i still can't get this link), even if somobody say "you have no humor sense" , this horse plainly awful. All this avatars looks so serious and cool, but i (and not only i) must play with humanoid horse talking to me (despite the eye fetish of Glitch's blacksmiths). I belive that this is just a developers joke (maybe testing community's activity?) and this... creature will be replaced with something else. Like nice mermaid (even with boobs )
I knooow, but still that wouldn't stop the rebels complaining about it and requesting Miniknog to change their standard AI avatars as pictures of something less offending, like Po golems. Oh you rebels, why do you never obey Great Big Ape nicely?
I've read all the Glitch lore entries and in the context of those and the current robo-horses the glitch sometimes use the AI still makes no sense to me. First of all, as I understand it, the AI is pretty much the first racial entity the player interacts with at the start of the game. Therefore the image of the AI gives a key first impression to the player about the culture of their race, and yet you're going to put a complete joke there? What's worse, we're also stuck with this joke for the rest of the game! How, exactly, are you going to stop it from getting old? Secondly, crazy-looking horses with boobs are creepy. They're the last thing I'd expect as a new player creating a robot character, EVEN WITH THE GLITCH LORE EXPLAINED TO ME. I'd still wonder, "WHY BOOBIES? WHYYYYYYY" Thirdly, there is an easy solution that would appease people who like horses and people like me: a robo horse without boobs. Glitch already have them and ride them. It exposes the player to actual aspects of Glitch lore and is flavorful. And, most importantly, it wouldn't be an eyesore. All the other AIs have a pretty tight connection to racial identity. This one, by far, is the odd man out, and it needs to go.
To @yclatious , @Pyreaus and @___MeRliN___ The mistake number one that people do in forums is labeling others with opinions different from their own as "Knights" of a certain kind. There's no knights in here, in fact I can't even ride a horse, let alone joust! Just people with different points of view and who are just as likely to defend their ideas (either with or against) about something as the opposite side - we're not expecting a reward for defending X and neither are we trying to become the next Anarchist symbolic leader for going against it. When things don't go their way or they simply ran out of ideas to counter back, some people just choose the easy way out and "threaten" to the leave the conversation as it is. Honestly, who's that going to help? If walking away is their best answer then I wonder what kind of person they are in real life when that's the best resolution to a problem that they can think of. We're in a freaking forum, opinions fly around here like flies in a barn, if some people can't take the heat nor realize that their opinion ins't the most supreme thing on this planet, then perhaps they shouldn't be here to start with. Another thing I dislike is when we get labeled as the "bad one" in a debate, as in the one who is trying to "come up on top". Honestly, that's a load of fish crap because we're not coming up on top of anything. If someone replies to me then I reply back, this is how a discussion goes - if its purely one side then its not a discussion, its a monologue. So what if I'm trying to "push my opinion on the other side"? That's the point - I want them to understand me. They don't have to agree, but I want them to at least understand my position before they start raining rocks in my general direction.

I'm not really sure why that's addressed at me because that was the point I was making in the first place. If you read my initial post I was merely saying that there were a lot of people making fun of the people who don't like the horse AI or calling them petty, etc and that it's wrong to do so, as people should be allowed to express their opinion about it without such judgement. I responded to the other guy specifically because he was going around saying deal with it and calling people haters which is exactly what I was talking about and he misconstrued that as me hating the people in support of the horse .-.
In the end,none of this actualy mattered,nobody won anything or convinced anyone and I,for one,got my day ruined by your Majesty. All this damed discussion for nothing.Lets savour this bitter taste shal we?
Well, judging by Omni's reply that Yclatious posted, it seems like the anti-horse opinion will be swatted down, and we'll just have pack up, go home, and accept it. At the very least, one thing I forgot to consider was that ships get upgraded, meaning the AI might turn into something more...reasonable. Of course, justified or not, I really hope the current one doesn't stay the whole time... Welp, good talk everyone, tenouttaten, round up next week.
its not even that the ai is offensive, its not god damn offensive, no one is being "thin skinned" or whatever, no one is being "to pc", this is not a issue of "political correctness" its that it doesn't make sense with the glitch lore, (any explanations are realllllly stretching it) its not consistent with the other races getting actual good non shitty avatars and its not really fair to people want to play glitch but dont want this inane ai, that puts them off so much that they have to not play as glitch, its not like the issue with people getting upset with the sentient poo thing (which could be changed easier with a simple re texture anyway) because with that thing you dont have to actually see it all the damn time..... its like.... no one is offended, people just dont like it, it doesn't fit with the rest of the ai and it breaks whatever immersion star bound offers. the best option is to have more than one ai but...
