I thought the excavation would be like mining, like it would be out in open world and you find it? Not sure how I like this tbh. And will there be ways to build a mecha dinosaur from their skeletons? Imagine that as a mount. And what kind of ancient creatures will we dig up? Would there be alien ones? Those that fits with their world and looks different from earth, maybe?
What the hell dinosaurs in Space?? It's about time (pun intended) the feature I've been waiting for rarely talked and now rise in front of me I can't even express my excitment, ihave a suggestion, soo the mini critters will be tameable in the near furure right? So how about an extinct version of them only obtained by finding their fossil (or amber if you preffer jurassic park style) then revived them in somekind of revival chamber to collect them. SPACE jurassic park anyone?
anyone got the fossilgame to work in the nightly? they sead it would be there but it isnt also still cant findthat youmarang X_x @Supernorn why must you torcher me
YEEEEAAAY DINOTASTIC! by the way can we find living ones too or clone one PLZ and if so can we get one to tame and ride on
Has the idea to have a secondary texture for all the generated creatures to be a bone only texture? That could be used many ways instead of just fossils could have skeletons of the generated mobs laying on desert floors, the bottom of water bi-oms and maybe even in caves?
Now This is something im hyped about, digging up things was always one of my favorite things to do in games ( pretty much the only reason i kept playing WoW for a while.) and i must say im innterrested what stranger things can be excavated, just immagin what modders could do with that. a jurrasic park like mod, is pretty much possible now, so as i said im exited for that, good on ya Chucklefish
that was a long 10 minute stream... watched the back log, or rather just finished watching it. essentially missed the original. Oh well... Liked what I saw although that village was as put, like a creepy horror movie... Centered around the man in that top hat. So much drama. lol something I am awaiting to see happen in my own creations when it finally arrives in stable or unstable. Not particular to try nightly; just too patient I guess. there was mention of the different wood/stone types dropping... I know I wouldn't mind see such a thing, to at least give way to a variety of base materials to build with, even if those all build the same. As in using wood type will build the wood types. Unsure of depth, but could have a base set that all wood could be used and then some sets that different individual wood could be made of it. Same with stone. After all couldn't it be just set as a type, or just a attribute of the item in question to have type:wood, but variant being something like birch, oak, etc... Give more reason to collect different trees beyond just having wood. Also due to how painting works could give interest to having different shades indirectly if not different designs in the grain. Same with the stone, as it would be nice to build with them throughout. Anyway that fossil game looked decent enough, and makes me wonder how it will be in the actual environment once things are set. Quite a lot of interest in what was mentioned and shown. Now I hope that top hat guy doesn't come to my village to steal away all the hearts of my villagers... That is one active person despite him sleeping for a long bit of time in the beginning. Well that is the exhaustion from moving to a different place; one needs to rest I suppose. It was quite amusing to see the different interactions they had and how much the village did create a certain atmosphere. All said and done I think I will patiently await the many lovely things coming our way eventually.
I've been all through this thread, and if it was mentioned. then my old eyes just haven't seen it. What biomes do you find the fossils on, and do you need a special tool?
Star Bound has a lot of copies of other games such as Terraria but with different concepts so copying isn't such a big deal. BUT!!! I completely agree that adding this particular mini game is kinda.. redundant; since its not a difficult mini game, I really see no point to it. I would much rather see performance upgrades than play a less rewarding 'Fossil Fighters' addition to the game. I completely understand that they wand it to be a more delicate process to extract bones(fossils) from the planet than mindless ore digging where it doesn't matter because it will be smelted down in a furnace later rather than be displayed --or hopefully revived. > which is why I would much rather see a more entertaining method of fossil digging especially for a game taking place in the future (It is in the future right?) where we have matter manipulators, gravity bubbles, and spaceships at our disposal we still have to use primitive methods to unearth a fossil in a mini game format. but finally fossils that's all i care about!
