As stated in this thread already, these colors are simply the base colors. When they spawn ingame they have a very wide variety of color options. And these are not racial weapons, they are meant to all look similar in style. Each race already has tons of weapons in their own race's style. Also stated in the linked post above is that they actually removed a lot of the more unique weapons because they are working on making them even more unique.
To clarify again, those hammers/spears aren't all going to be the same color in-game. The red/blue color scheme is just an example. I've added that to the post to avoid any further confusion.
I'm drooling over these new weapons and I can't wait to use them in-game its also nice to see the ocean biomes getting an update I like them enough and it feels cool to go diving for treasure.
Oceans being more populated is a step in the right direction. At current, you circumnavigate them once to gather kelp and a coconut, and other than occasionally shooting a big fish, that for the most part ignore you, you never face any form of challenge or reason to return. They're bland planets, though the same could be said for most of the worlds/biomes. Usually, you beam down to a world, and it could be anything from a forest to a volcano planet, but once you're below the surface, there's very little to set them apart from each other. Since the monsters are randomly generated, there's nothing that sets the amalgam of parts you met on the Garden planet from the other amalgams of parts you met on every other planet. A random Frankenstein, while it brings in variety, it's not particularly memorable. Compared to the robots of the human bunkers, who all have great personality, some varied tactics, and I remember them all, I can't remember a single randomly generated monster I fought between Garden and Volcano. As much as I hate to compare Starbound to Terraria, when you were in a biome in Terraria, you knew you were in that biome. The jungle felt like a jungle all the way down. The plant life and music extended well below the surface, and the enemies never let you forget you were in the jungle. That and biome specific world bosses that had flavor and were more interesting than just being a bigger version of a random enemy dripping red particles. An unrelated note that was bugging me in my most recent Upbeat Giraffe play-through, since you're given the tech you need to survive the major threat of each new star before you ever go there, you never really feel like you're exploring anything new and dangerous. Radiation? What radiation? I was given the perfect answer to radiation before I even encountered it. Cold? Is there even a bar to indicate you being cold? I bet there is, but I haven't seen it. Ocean planet? I've been able to breathe underwater for ages now, and apparently pressure isn't even a thing, so call me Spongebob, I'm building a pineapple down here! I've really enjoyed my time playing Starbound, and I would love for it to be my very favorite game one of these days. It's making steps, just not there yet.
As far as the randomly generated monsters are concerned, some people get attached to them (especially if they capture them). Take Derrick for example. One member found and captured this orange lizard thing, lost it, and now has dozens of players looking for that permutation again.
The Ocean Minidungeon with Avian Deco? noooooo Sorry. Now you hav eOcean wOrlds.... why (sorrY) damn you use them not for the Hylotl.
Maybe, instead of simply nullifying the threat, protective suits could counteract the harmful effect based on how much energy/stamina you have. IOW, when radiation etc starts chipping away at your life, you need to stop fighting or whatever and let the suit work.
I like the style of the weapons and all, but I have to disagree with "They go with the theme," if I find an old treasure chest, I'd expect it to look much more rusty like than shiny and brand new. - Unless maybe a tech chest or some sort of weapons vendor has them. Still they look nice and good for adventuring as someone said.
SPEAR OVERLOAD. I must withstand. I must wit... No, it's not gonna happen. I failed. This picture is just too amazing for me. All of my YES. Polearms for life.
I LOVE the new weapon art. Definitely fits the theme of the game better. Is this replacing the old weapon looks or just adding on to it? Also, glad to see oceans will be getting some much needed attention. Just curious, is there a guesstimate for when we'll see Hylotl villages? My Hylotl and his crab are lonely (On another note, what is the purpose of poisonous/magma ocean planets? Besides giving an infinite source of liquid and some better stuff - which can be found on other, safer planet types, do they give special advantages if you manage to explore them safely?)
I know you guys are working on the bugs but some of my worlds that i used to visit frequently (like my home planet) glitch out and only load a bit of it and then starbound crashes. I hope you guys can fix it as soon as possible but I know you guys are working hard so keep up the good work! Here is a few images
Wonder if those hammers will make more curshing sounds when hitting stuff. I think the melee weapons would use some sound varriations, well eventually anyway. Oceans are getting some love finally. Would be fun to find a sunken city down there to explore. Maybe other hazzards such as currents and whirlwinds would spice stuff up when swiming around along with other nasty sea monsters. Otherwise happy with the new content
