No, you will enter them through Challenge Doors that you find underground, like the one that says "Test" in this album (minor spoilers). They were first described here and shown here. Chucklefish is planning to have tons of challenge rooms, possibly as many as 50 around launch.
Well, I guess someone said everything for me... I like all the implementations, but those lights are way to cool. Sadly I have a feeling that my universe is slightly bugged... I can't find any challenge rooms, nor asteroid fields (planetary bioms) or those guys with the demon armour on alien planets... So sad
I noticed. Still not my thing - reminds to much of old console throwing times when packman got killed the 234th time in a row in exactly the same challenge. I'm too old for this kind of stress.
There will be many types of challenge rooms of all difficulties (sources one and two). So far the difficulties are looking to be Easy > Medium > Hard > You Will Die. This dungeon looks to be a medium or hard. This is an obstacle dungeon, but there will also be puzzle solving dungeons and combat dungeons. It sounds like you will like the combat dungeons, some of those are just very simple large rooms with tons of enemies coming at you in various ways.
The boxing gloves looks pretty nice, but are they practical? I mean their range appears to be shorter than the daggers. Though I guess it could be useful for servers with PVP-enabled events. Punch-Out fisticuffs and make your opponent see stars whilst being star bound. That example of a challenge dungeon, on the other hand, looks pretty exciting! The disappearing/reappearing platforms are giving me a Megaman vibe to them. Knowing my skills though, I'm probably gonna need a fair amount of bandages.
Of course, I could. That would be incredibly easy actually and I could probably make alternate Busters, drunk after being awake for 35 hours, without trouble at all. But randomly generated arm cannons (what I've been working with) are a TOTALLY different thing. I should have clarified that before. Anyways, even the Buster isn't naturally obtainable in-game yet. So there's that too.
it looks great, maybe in the future this can evolve to assasin claws is just an idea but it would be good, dont you think? (sorry for my bad english tho )
With these boxing gloves, I'll be able to add Fukuroda Takaharu's Ultima Uniform gloves to my Kill la Kill mod!
boxing gloves should be a fun based item that makes your opponents energy go down and deals a small amount of damage. and if your opponent runs out of energy it should deal extra damage!
it has sense, if only they could add martial arts to the characters, but that could change everything and it sees very difficult i say
fist based melee weapons could be cool. I think boxing gloves should just be a fun item but if they made brass knuckles that would be great. Items like brass knuckles and sci-fi hardened gloves should deal high damage and have high knockback while items like claws and hidden blades and brass-knuckle-knives would have less knockback but high damage and crit of course all of these would have a range just outside of arms length, but If you use dash tech etc they could be great.
Eventually in Starbound you will be able to do whatever you want and avoid what you don't. If you want to farm (as in literally) your way to victory go ahead
Yup -- count me amongst the excited hordes! Boxing is funny -- but the level design and the colonization stuff, WHEEEEEE! I'M READY
