If you look closely at the GIF, you can see that those NPCs are guards. They only attack when the player shoots the first guard. Then all the other NPCs attack the player. This is using a new swarming behavior, all the other guards are helping out the first guy that got shot. The GIF also shows that after the first guard dies all the other NPCs stop attacking the player. This will probably be fixed before Stable comes, but it is still pretty funny. "Hey stop attacking our friend! Oh he's dead nevermind." tl;dr - The GIF already shows a stealth kill is entirely possible with the current system, other guards won't even attack you if you one shot him. About a month, but possibly up to 2 months.
Cool! I like this. I just hope it doesn't mean spells will be even less practical. I'm already down to just Quetzalcoatl's Quartz and Boom Blast!
As long as it take less damage to kill them the melee attackers den i like it by the way sometimes when i shot for the head the bullet just go straight through wittout takeing any damage Oh.. alomost forgot robot sound (bip bop bap)
I can't get leather even when I use a Hunting Bow or a Hunting Knives so can someone help me out here please.
You didn't say he mentioned wanting to nerf blink! Ouch. I dunno how I'm gonna get through those apex dungeons now.
Ah, yea. To be clear though, Quiksilver isn't nerfing blink, he just said that he expects blink will get nerfed before launch (by the other devs). Which, I can understand, it is really OP right now. I think it will still be there, it will probably have a maximum range though, and maybe a cooldown. Basically, he isn't making dungeons with anti-blink features because by release it probably won't be as powerful. I know the devs have also been thinking about ways to limit tech in just challenge rooms though, so it might be disabled in challenge rooms/dungeons but fine everywhere else. They said they would likely only do that if they could do it in a non-annoying way though. >> http://starbounder.org/Leather
You need to be on a suficently dangerous planet (I don't remember the exact difficulty, check the wiki)
Fixed in Nightly. I've obtained Leather with a Hunting Bow and Crossbows on a Forest world.[DOUBLEPOST=1435353036][/DOUBLEPOST] Wiki is not updated. Aww shiit ii hate NPC's that can easily kiill me, Next their going to make iit so NPC's actually get mad iif you trap them iin a holle!,
After all, it's not like any forest/grassland planets we know of in reality have volcanoes, or other localized biomes that don't quite match the surroundings. Seriously, though, aside from needing to ensure that creature strength and ore quality are (at least, primarily) planet-based rather than biome-based, I kind of like the realness of this, as opposed to the old scifi trope of the One Biome Planet. Call me weird, but I wouldn't mind at all if my Lush planet had a small volcanic region that's more dangerous, but has boosted ore availability as compensation.
Actually, the guards simply used up all their energy reserves and swapped to the next viable weapon, being Melee. But because they were all caught behind terrain they couldn't attack. This has been a feature with NPCs for a while.
Looking good. This is what we like to see, this is a huge spike in progress. The change between current AI and this one is a pretty big difference. I much prefer this over the NPC enemies just Gung-Ho barreling after you.
Thanks, and I see you've updated the wiki page now, cool. Those are very good points. It may actually be an intended feature. We'll see if it stays that way or if they mention it in a blog. Ah, that makes sense. I didn't think of that. So, to go with the Gnaremoob (reverse boomerang), metadept has made a normal boomerang: Tiyuri said this on twitter today: "Some of the upcoming Starbound shirts are absurdly cool. We've had office sneak previews." Chucklefish also announced today that they have hired a Publishing Manager. You can read their announcement here. GeorgeV said he is working on more microdungeons, and showed off a new surface Avian microdungeon that uses the new log blocks: Edit: I have added 66 microdungeon pictures from this reddit thread to the new Microdungeons wiki page. Tonight's Nightly News: The 32 bit game and unpacker work again! 1 challenge room doubled in size More work on Lush and Desert microdungeons, and work on updating the Tar/Tarpit mini-biomes. More Forest and Desert parallax work More NPC AI/spawning work Cabin Roof tiles are now automatically craftable by the player (same as Cabin Logs) Desert Tortoise critter's spawn name is now "deserttortoisecritter" Soft Bricks renamed to Soft Brick Blocks Pile of Eyes renamed to Clump of Eyes More work on the new Glitch Maze dungeon, getting bigger and bigger Bricks have a new look and more variations, here's a pretty picture:
"It's like- are we playin' them, or are they playin' us?" Matthew McConaughey Seriously, this is awesome. Parallax, snow, cute lil' critters, and now this? Awesome. I always feel so bad for the overly high-spirited NPC in the Florean Party quest that gets confuzzled in my jumping frenzy around acid pits during combat. Sometimes she makes those jumps, sometimes not...
ooooooh man.....updated NPC AI..............im imagining my time going through apex laboratories are gonna be that much worse now, hopefully they've or will decrease their health a tad, or atleast the damage, atleast on normal. As for the biomes changes, has chucklefish introduced new random generated structures?
Finally some smart-ish NPCs. Oh. *Puts on black shades* Yeah! *grabs gun* PEW PEW PEW! I just realized that i've been playing CS:GO with James Bond theme on.
