Mmmm, loving how S.A.I.L. informs you of ores! Bit of a stretch, but could this be a hint that ores may one day be randomized? Like, pick up an ore, figure out if it's dense enough for hammers or conductive enough for wiring?
I have a question about the project you announced by The Planet Project. How will save the coordinates solar systems, which will exceed the value (-999 999 999) - (999,999,999)?
The new UIs look nice, more info on planets will help with exploring, but it looks like a tech I use a lot will be gone (I liked the Bouncy tech to avoid fall damage), the crew management system might be interesting, hopefully you can adjust their equipment through the interface.
Even if it is taken away for now it could come back later, They've been making the sphere ability far better so it's possible they could just make a bouncy sphere version to replace that tech later on.
I haven't read the whole thread yet. But i have a proposal for geological analysis. What about making that item based? There are two possible options: 1. some sort of permanent ship scanning upgrade. 2. consumeable drones, that have to be recraftet.
Not sure about Starbound races, but human units make perfect sense outside Earth, as they're defined on the constants of universe and not on Earth-related measures. Unless you use that imperial unit nonsense, of course.
Yeah, no. They're arbitrary human terms, redefined in terms of scientific constants like ceasium atom frequencies and such. Seconds and meters still only make sense to humans. You know what a nice non-human, non-Earth unit is? The lightyear. This reminds me of a scene from Star Trek TNG, "The Defector". A romulan guest asks the replicator for a glass of water, temperature twelve onkians. The replicator doesn't know what an onkian is, and Mr. Jarok settles for a vague "cold".
I am sorry, but you contradict yourself. The lightyear (as a distance travelled by light for a year) is based on the definition of a year, which is, of course, an Earth-like property. You have a point in that all these units are defined somehow, and the specific definition was invented based on both practical and historical reasons (the basic units should be defined as measures you encounter every day, and not completely different from historical definitions). If you want completely universal units, you are left with Planck units, which are in turn impractical for everyday measures (and also dimensionless units, but they have a limited usage). Thus only convention is left. The Earth units are based on convention, too, although the SI (metric) system is also the most practical. For example, it's not that the metric units don't make sense to Americans, they are just uncommon for them, and can be quickly learnt and used, if needed. Seeing as currently the only interstellar state is the Earth-based Protectorate, there is no reason to think the Earth wouldn't try to introduce their units to other races, which will then be capable of using them, as the quantities the units represent are common to all races. Ultimately, they will have to agree on some units, and the units will be based on some local quantity.
Shit yeah. You had me all worked up and I slipped up at the end there. *skipping a bunch of sensible things* Who's to say these units in the screenshot aren't?
Is the "hot is high tier only" still a thing? Really not liking biome dependent difficulty, maybe having a difficulty multiplier but not tier. I dunno I almost gave up on this game maybe I'll get back into it soon. Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk
If I were to do a proper analysis, I'd likely say that a click is one real life minute and a sector is 1 block. So, the planet goes 4000 unique blocks horizontally(and vertically?) before you loop back to the other side. The cultivator's probably playing a joke on us with that disproportional threat-to-metal level.
I'm not sure, but I think temperature of planet won't be as much of a difficulty factor any more. I hope so any way. It'd be interesting to find hard-as-nails lush biomes, and soft-and-squishy volcanic ones...
When I was on the Steam forums for this game, I saw some people asking for some more information on the planets, and some more visuals, like seeing other people's ships when on the same planet in multiplayer. One of these has been done!
It was discussed during the post on Xbox one support. It's probably being worked on, it's just that more important matters take priority when it comes to posting in the dev blog.
i hope they adds some easter eggs with the scaning like you hear in most sci fis *capt we are getting some werid readings form this planet* or *we are getting some unidentified readings here* or *the scanner arn't picking up any readings capt *capt* what but we can see the planet right there!?* or something in that durn probing ur anus
All these new thing you've been posting since April 3rd are nice and all, but when you say that the 1.0 is coming soon, I think that your definition of "soon" differs from me. soon /so͞on/ adverb 1. in or after a short time. "everyone will soon know the truth" synonyms: shortly, presently, in the near future, before long, in a little while, in a minute, in a moment, in an instant, in a bit, in the twinkling of an eye,in no time, before you know it, any minute (now), any day (now), by and by; Because of this "soon" business I won't play, because I don't want to get to far into characters when everything about them will change. Instead of telling us "it's getting close" to release. Just tell us it will happen when it happens, because now I expect it to happen any day now, maybe even today, or Monday.....I was told "soon"
