Only Tungsten, Copper and Silver for an EXTREME planet? Feels wrong! Will there be slider, if there are more minerals? Maybe the scanner could be upgradeable. So you need more upgrades to see higher tiers of ores.
Here's a list I posted under "Day 1 Insights, mostly UI" a couple years ago. I can't find the post here anymore (probably due to the issues a few months ago) but it's still available on reddit if you want to see the rest of the list. Some of it may not be relevant anymore, but I'm trying to pull the ones out that are. Italics in parenthesis are my addenda to the original bullet point. In the crafting menu, I would like to see a craft max button, or at least a max button that will change the "x1" to the max amount currently craftable. (hitting left once to go from x1 to max is a hack and not a true solution) In the crafting menu, I want to be able to search by material, in addition to the resultant's item's name. In the crafting menu, I would like the material costs to be more visible--that is, I don't want to have to hover over each individual item to see what it takes, I would like all item costs to be visible so I can compare/just see what it costs (Seriously! How much does it take to craft something and why is it still not visible after all this time!?) In the crafting menu, I would like to see labels for what the different categories mean. Shield is obviously armor, Sword is obviously weapons, Hammer is obviously tools, etc. But what is obvious to me may not be obvious to everyone. So I would like there to be some kind of label, for example when I hover my cursor over an icon I would like to see what category it is. Quest text--there's so much space, but the lines are smashed together. There's no space between the lines of text It just makes it hard to read. Probably the most cumbersome change I'm requesting is that the menus are too small. On large resolutions, there's a lot of real estate not being used. I would like to be able to resize a lot of the menus so that I can view more items at once. (mostly the crafting menus so I can see more of the list at once) (crafting menu is WAY too small considering everything available from it!) Touched on above, I would like to see more labels (hover labels would work for me). Two specific places (outside of the crafting menu I listed above) are for buffs/debuffs on the player and the icons on the paper doll screen. (Again, buffs really really REALLY need this functionality) Some of them may not be as applicable as they used to be, but please consider these.
I'm sure it is well noticed. At this point I think they are withholding the assets on purpose, likely to hide story related things as they finish it up.
Keeping story assets secret is one thing, i'm not asking for a fix. I'm talking about at least getting a response of some kind. Like: "hey guys, we know nightly is broken, this is intentional to keep the story related things hidden as we finish up" or "we are aware of a problem with nightly builds." or even "yeah it's broken, we're busy." Just something so we know they haven't all suddenly died in a freak gasoline fight accident.
I like the new look. I have a quick question though. Will the navigation console upgrade as the ship upgrades or will you see this new and improved version as soon as you can get to the console?
I hope that the icons for the climate will also get more detailed mouse-over tooltip with some decent description and a mention how hazardous they are.
what's a click? if there be some funny clarification on what a "click" measures to in each races' time measurement, i think that would be fine. Otherwise it'll turn into Star Wars' "parsec", where people wonder whether its distance, time, or jumps. Making nightly "playable" isn't a priority of nightly, itll be broken and require admin. to work with. nightly purpose is to provide a look at what is being worked on, so long as it can run the latest build it fufills that purpose.
You're being ridiculous. The fact that this post went up at all proves they're all perfectly fine and working at the game. Try stepping away from the computer a bit and calming down
I am wondering what exactly they mean by quest markers. If they mean the randomize quests that you can get on that planet then it will be nothing more of a reminder that you left a quest unfinished. If they mean I can tell which planet had say a Golden Ducky so I don't have to explore the whole surface just to find that single item then I will be very grateful. The game is all about exploring and I get that but exploring the same tier of planets for too long kinda show all of the flaws of the game and show how truly unrandom it is. That and it is just plain out boring to be stuck on a single item find quest for too long. With 1.0 being less linear though that might be less of an issue now though regardless.
If you're going to 'pretty up' parts of the game, will you do something to streamline the crafting interface? Maybe I was just spoiled by the earlier versions, but there are so many crafting tables now that it's a chore to go from table to table browsing multiple tabs and menus to find the items you want - or worse, to explore options for what you can make. And then there's a meaningless time requirement to actually craft the items. It's more complicated, but not in a fun way. It's just clunkier.
They posted a dev update, so they aren't all dead. And this isn't the first time nightly hasn't gotten an actual update for days on end.
The problem the past few days isn't that they are not giving actual updates to nightly build, The updates they've been doing made it impossible to play nightly unless you had a older copy backed up.
Yes, lack of updates is never a bother, (nor is using admin commands, ahem, as i happen to be basically a wizard with them now) we know they work hard c: the issue is that the actual game itself cannot even be opened, let alone played. For some reason, a lot of people who just read blog posts and aren't actual nightly testers have been telling it must be working. It isn't.
Like I said before, it means they're sidestepping how units from one culture/planet don't make sense for arbitrary other cultures/planets. Fun fact: a day on Venus is longer than a year on Venus.
SCIENCE! SPAAAAAACE! Also, this is just like in-game terms like Minecraft's "Ticks" (One simulation step) and "Chunk" (The part of the world saved as one unit; 16 blocks width times 16 blocks debth). The day length is probably tied to simulation steps, as lag can actually change the real-time duration of the in-game day.
That doesn't change much. Yeah we can't play it now, but it was never really intended for actual play in the first place. It puts a hamper on things, but treat it as any other prolonged period of being unplayable that we've had in the past. People are making it out to be a sign of end times or something.
