how do i get to nightly build is it the unstable version i want to get on the nightly but i dont know how
In your Steam library, go to the properties of Starbound Unstable and look under the Betas tab. Also, please don't double-post.
Seems that the v1.0 update is approaching at a steadfast rate. Thank you for this blog update, it is definitely an improvement and pretty.
I would like to see an upgradable planet analysis system. As you upgrade your ship the ships planet scanners or whatever it uses to get info about a planet upgrade as well. It could go from telling you if a planet is harmful or not to telling you if a planet has rare weapons and where to find them. All in all though i'm excited for this update and I really want to see the nightly get fixed a little so I can check some more recent stuff out.
DAM the new interfaces look good i would go as far as to say they look sexy but im not sure i really want to hit on a game manic
Question, will crew members be able to get killed permanently? I've always been a huge fan of consumable resources, shipmates included.
Agreed. Everything looks great but these units are weird. If they were mad up units, that would be better IMO.
Interesting touch. More info can't be too bad. Quite a helpful look, although wouldn't mind if we had to upgrade something to leak more info into that panel. Like upgrading sensors and the like through something. Having a basic at first and then more info tact on with each upgrade. Still regardless of that, it is nice to see more info being put into that panel. Awaiting my chance at new recruits and exploring all those options.
This feature is interesting to me and I enjoy the idea of having to upgrade the S.A.I.L. system somehow to reveal more information on planets.
Because they are only available in the nightly branch right now, where they also are not available, because the download is broken. These are updates on the developement progress, not changelogs (Although those are also posted here when it's time for them.)
Clicks? Why not minutes? We're average human beings playing the game, not nautical specialists, so I'd appreciate a more relatable unit of measure to know how many minutes a day cycle is. Edit: Any chance of having the ability to choose a landing spot on a planet? That'd be great.
@Reactorcore, what is a minute, in the context of a videogame where you can visit different planets? Do you go by Earth minutes (wall time) and thus break immersion and such? If you define it as 1440th of a day, and a day is a single rotation of the planet, your minutes vary in length! Human characters might use minutes in the sense of 60 seconds but the planet that definition was used on is gone by the time you get to see this screen with its fancy vague sci-fi unit. Any other playable species... speaks for itself really. Same deal with distances. Now, the second has a concrete definition that's not dependant on planetary rotations and such... but who wants to deal with that fine a unit when describing the length of a single day? Teal deer: it's a handwave to avoid unit confusion.
There will be confusion. There is confusion already. Even if you use metric time. Especially if you use metric time. Most of us are only familiar with our weird sexagesimal time. Minutes and hours, in other words. There are 60 seconds in a minute, and a second was defined as 9,192,631,770 radiation periods of caesium-133. Quite constant, eh? However. Calling minutes, well, minutes, while in-game days count only a few, breaks immersion even further, so... Minutes by any other name? I don't know. I've lost my train of thought somewhere on caesium. Must be bad for health, that metal.
HOW IS THIS STILL GOING UNNOTICED?! THIS!!!!! Can we at least get an acknowledgement that there's an issue?!
