An interesting question....in the last 6 months up to release "Player built space stations" was on their to do list for 1.0....now that clearly didn't happen but it at least shows that was the intent of the feature for certain. Is this still in? What else, if anything, do the space stations do? Hard to say.....everything about this update can be very brilliant or very poor.
Maybe it'd be a larger mobile homebase? Like our ships but we have more say in what they look like, and possibly more room than even a large ship? Or at the very least a different aesthetic to it. Even if it's not mobile, it'd be a cool base to come back to, maybe have it become like the current Outpost: Have survivors and outcasts come to live there and serve as a colony of sorts.
I would definitely approve of being able to move a space station base around between systems.....it would really help differentiate it from planetary bases.....maybe an end game base option that requires a lot of advanced tech to make it movable. There's a lot of things they could do here....I just wish they'd talk about what they are doing with them.
Even if the new stations are not mobile, they can serve as a safe place to use items that don't fit on ships (like tree farms and other things), Hopefully the blocks they are made out of are craftable so you can expand the stations, use them for your own buildings, or swap out all the default background blocks in your ship.
Well, station... stationary. You know. Personally, I'd love it if we could keep crew members that we'd prefer to not have on our ship (their pathing can get super laggy sometimes), but don't want to lose on our space stations.
That would be an orbit adjustment, what I mean is the station is not meant to be a ship. Those engines used to relocate the space station closer to the wormhole were only meant to keep the thing from crashing into another planet (like the ISS which requires regular boosts to keep it in low earth orbit). If the station was intended for at least interplanetary flight, then it would be no different from a ship.
Well, we very well can make space stations. Maybe not in line with what you or others hoped, but they are sure possible, just like any other structure. Build in an asteroid field. Technically a space station. Just saying.
That's not it at all....we're talking about what the actual feature could be....it would be underwhelming if the feature space station player bases(assuming they still can be) end up being nothing more than what we can already do with no additional perks or reasons for having/making one.
Apparently all I had to do to get a good frame rate in this game was uncheck via steam? Thanks for the patch Chucklefish!!!
Any ETA's by chance? Not days, but a month maybe? Also I had 80 mb download just now. For Starbound of corse. Waddup with that?
Literally, the OP page explains why. It was a hotfix for people who had extremely low framerates with a certain option set. You know, those problems that people have been whining about for months, claiming CF was "not bothering to fix" or "too lazy to fix" or "won't fix"...? Sorry if I sound a bit snide or hostile in this, but I get tired reading all of the scathing rhetoric by people who have no respect for the hard work of a dedicated few.
What about that 16 MB update from before? DUN DUN DUUUN. Anyway, thx. Totally forgot about that. Still, I came here primarily to ask about an ETA.
The 16MB one was Steam pushing VC Redist files for a varying list of games. A-freaking-gain. They love making us re-download the same crap for each game on our HDD, taking up gigs upon gigs of space on duplicate files because they are too lazy to code some md5 checks to see if we already have the installers each game uses, and have us store just ONE copy of these files.
