22° C. Is Not Pleasant, S.A.I.L

Sorry, Chucklefish, but I'm going to have to call bullshit on S.A.I.L. 22° Celsius* is about two to three degrees warmer than any part of the universe has any right being. I demand that 1.0 add proper temperature controls for your spaceship so we don't have to live with S.A.I.L.'s inane temperature errors.

*71.6° Fahrenheit for those of you living in nonsense countries, 295.15° Kelvin for all you weirdos out there.

[Thanks mod for moving very important post to right thread]

Yeah, 71.6F is way too warm for my tastes too.

We need like 55. Maybe 60. 60's acceptable.

Your ship should be kept at a pleasant sixty-eight degrees at all times.

Maybe S.A.I.L is used to the temperatures in space which can be, according to the cosmic background temperature, -265 C,so 22 C° to him might be really hot, or at least a non pleasant temperature change. d:

Temperature in Space is so very misunderstood.

The transfer of heat is done either through radiation (which is very, very, very slow) or convection (which is much faster).

Convection can only happen when there is matter to pass said heat through (matter in space is almost non-existent which is why it is called Space, right?).

If you take a hot object, such as a spaceship, it is going to be hot... and it will remain hot... for a very long time. That is why spaceships need to radiate heat, and why any science fiction that takes itself seriously must account for heat. You will literally cook yourself to death if your spacecraft cannot radiate heat.

So, the S.A.I.L. rightfully thinks 72F is "comfortable", because... well if the radiation system failed on the ship... it would get MUCH hotter than that, and fast.

22° Celsius is too warm? I'd say more 24° or 25° would be acceptable. What are you, warm-bloo-?...
Wait yes of course that temperature is fine and we are all warm-blooded mammallian humanoid Humans here. Haha. Yes.
    Warm-blooded. Human. Yes...
All is well my fellow Humans. Asides from this temperature, which is, of course, far too warm for us Humans to be comfortable.

There's something about you, Shaadaris, something I can't quite put my finger on.

You're not from, say, northern Florida by any chance?

I have never been to this "northern Florida" you speak of. In fact, I have never set foot in the United States of America in which such a location resides.
No, unfortunately, my place of birth and residence is a cold wasteland plagued by sudden and often unexpected changes in weather - rain, wind, sometimes even snow, toxic particles in the air that make my kind ill, and worst of all: woodpeckers. This place is known by many names: The northern icefields, the land of the dreaded Moose, or, in the terms of the layman: CANADA.

Frigid winds on sunny days! Rain when there are no clouds! Pollen, POLLEN, POLLEN! AND I SWEAR THOSE HORRENDOUS BIRDS ONLY EXIST TO PECK THINGS THAT ARE MOST CERTAINLY NOT WOOD FOR THE SOLE PURPOSE OF MAKING AS MUCH NOISE AS WOODPECKERLY POSSIBLE!!
    CANADA

I have always been told room temperature is 24'C which has suited me just fine.
    Personally when I saw "a pleasant 22'C" I shivered.

Here where I live we've had temps up to 42Cº (107Fº) during summers and as low as -2Cº (28Fº) in the worst winters... if I had a choice, I'd say 18-22Cº (64-71Fº) is quite comfortable for me.

45 to -45 seems to be the rule here and I tell you friend, 24 is where it's at.

temperature can be very subjective, I personally get uncomfortable at anything over 12°C (53.6°F, 285.15K), but that's me.

Room temperature is about 22°C, but for me, I'd like it to be about 18°C, I prefer it a bit cool.
Also, lower temperature helps too shred a few kg ;-)
